This product is a great bang for your buck, it pushes, shovels and tosses snow accordingly to it's specifications, it is fairly easy to assemble, it's size is great for storage as it's not too big and clunky and it takes great weight out of shoveling with a standard shovel, pushing out thick, heavy snow, while reducing pressure on your body and reducing injuries over time. We love it and our neighbours love it!
Bought earlier this month. Delivered timely and carefully. I took 3 weeks before posting a review and I don't usually post reviews but I had to come back and write something about this machine. Best decision thanks to the reviewers taking the time and sharing their feedback especially those indicating the need for special type of cable. I ordered the cable through amazon but it's out of stock right now. We live in Barrie and already second horrible round of snow but both times we survived with this little machine. This morning was unbelievable how we were able to get rid of almost my height of snow pile up in our driveway. We even lend it to our two neighbours who have joint townhouse driveway and it did not disappoint three townhouse driveways in crazy weather of Barrie. So happy and blessed that we made this smart investment. I just hope it lasts long and keeps us happy moving forward as well.
Product easy to assemble - even in cold. SJ618E works wonderfully. Light, but powerful. I can't pull ignition string on gas engine. I have electric lawnmower, electric chainsaw. So this is wonderful. I can get snow out of my entire driveway - what a huge help. It helps to have experience with electric cord handling, from summertime tools - and this little snowthrower works great. 13 Amp power is enough for my use, and doesn't cause electrical problems of too much electric power draw from my house. I am so pleased - I can remove snow from my driveway (concrete) and live my life!!!
I had to wait for the snow to return after I bought the Snow Joe! We have had a couple snow falls this March so I got to try out the machine. I like it a lot, it's light and has good power. The only thing I didn't like was the start button, it took a couple tries to start up. I think it has to be depressed to start and at first it would pop out. It is working better now. This last snowfall was heavy and wet so there was quite a bit of clogging but it slides right out for the most part.
This Snow Joe is only good for clearing lite/drier snow not heavier wet snow that we often have in Michigan. Also I had to put three additional self-tapping screws in the chute assembly, one screw on the side of the tube-shaped assembly was not doing the job. There is a design engineer at Snow Joe that must have been last in his/her class. I would recommend a coat of cooking spray to prevent a snow and ice buildup in the chute. I realize it would increase the cost a bit but the proper gauge 50 ft. electrical cord could be included. All in all the blower performed well for the price in drier snow conditions.
I haven't had much snow to try it out on. The light snow we had kind of drifted back over the previous swath. I had to length the handle because the initial settings were for someone shorter than me. the value is great for the small of shoveling I have to do
I purchased to use on my small concrete driveway. It is about 100 feet long and 2 cars wide. Was simple to use first time out this week. Easy to run. Had about 2" of snow earlier this week so pulled it out to try. My problem is that it would hardly blow the snow more than about 12". Just enough to pile up for the adjacent run. Maybe it is just me. I noticed when I pushed it real fast, it would blow harder but also blow out the front and not just the chute. Any thoughts? Is it the blower or me? Was easier than shoveling but did not seem very efficient.
Worked well for a while and clears snow nicely when it works. No spares available from Snow Joe. I have been waiting for a replacement auger belt for the last 2 years. Very disappointed.
Seems nice at first then you find out the shoot won't stay on. It's a poor design. Motor seems powerful enough for my needs. I just need to figure out out to keep the shoot from flying off. The set screw is a joke. An example of you get what you pay for.
It doesn't handle the 8” of snow that the manual says it does. I wouldn't use with more than four inches of snow. Poorly made or maybe just poorly chosen hardware to go with it- on second use the one of the screws that holds the shaft where snow blows our broke off. Would not recommend this product
