Snow White is a classic from Disney. This product comes with a blu-ray and a regular dvd disc. I don't own a blu-ray player but plan on getting one which makes this 2 disc edition perfect. The regular dvd has really great quality and sound. It has come a long way from watching this on a vhs tape. This is a classic that will be around forever and will be loved by my kids and their kids one day!
This Snow White is Loaded..... Now keep in mind that I viewed this DVD on a standard definition tv...I know, I know, what was I thinking. The improvements in this film were remarkable to say the least. The kids and I (ages 11 and 4) had watched the original version just prior to viewing the Diamond Edition so that we'd be able to note the differences. Let me tell ya, no prior viewing was necessary. Right away you notice how much clearer the images are. In the original you had a lot of blah colors and not a lot of line definition. In the diamond edition the colors are crystal clear (even in standard def) and the images stand out a lot more. At one point I recall telling the kids to pay close attention to the water....it actually looks like it is moving. The images stand out in 3D. Something I never though possible from a film of yesterday. They really put a lot of time into recreating this masterpiece. All while not ruining the classic image. It was very tastefully done. Now I did notice things from time to time. Mainly that the pixels are pretty visible where there is a lot of color concentrated in one place. A good example is the seven dwarves outfits when they are crossing the bridge coming home from the mine and another incident when Snow White is in the woods with the huntsman. But those are minor concerns when you see the awesome clearness in the scene where she is running through the woods afraid of all the eyes and creepy creatures. They made major improvements in that part. The one thing great about the Diamond Edition is that not only do you get the regular full length feature film but also a 2 disk blue ray of it and bonus features. And let me tell you....this thing is loaded to the max with bonuses. You get a first look of the opening sequence of "The Princess and the Frog", a lot of behind the scenes footage (including a possible sequel that Walt was working on), music video of Tiffany Thornton, audio commentary, and they even throw in some games for the kiddos....or you : ) Games are "What do you see?", "Mirror, Mirror on the Wall", and "Dopey's Wild Mine Ride". Another great feature is the fact that it will remember where you stopped the movie at and make sure you can restart it from there next time you go to view it. This feature comes in super handy when you have little ones with short attention spans....you know, like a typical four year old. In summary this movie is an excellent value for the entire family. So what if you already own Snow White on VHS, it's time to update your collection. And this is the perfect way to do so.
This classic movie was perfectly remastered. I have the Diamond Edition and had to watch both discs as soon as possible. I had not seen it for years and was able to share this classic with my 6 year old daughter who loved it! My 8 year old son watched it too and he liked it as well. I'm glad that they brought this back out in it's modern form so a new generation can enjoy this classic!
I remember when I first saw this in my wee young years in the early 50's. It was the feature length that started it all and is still wonderful and makes me very happy to have it as my own. My how life has changed....to be able to own a personal copy of such excellent quality, like my own little theater......the grandkids and I can have such fun with this...... Thank you Walt, you and your brother created childhood memories for a generations to share with generations......
I can't tell you how excited I was when I got word that Snow White was coming out on Blu Ray, and that was before I learned of the Diamond Edition. There are SO many special features to this edition that really makes it come to life, and takes you back in time. As a little girl, I would sit for hours watching the original and now, my little girl will sit for hours watching Snow White, as well. She's even going to dress like Snow White for Halloween! Blu Ray just makes each scene really come to life, and the behind the scenes footage was a first time look for me as well. 5 Stars here, much better quality than I expected, given the film is so much older!
This way wasy cooler than the VHS version of this movie. The special features including the Walt Disney discussion and games, just made this a better experience to this curious adult. Meanwhile, the vivid colors and restoration really made this come to life. I watched it with a three year old who tried catching the animals on the screen. The witch was so lifelike and scary that the little one grabbed me and said she was scared. A little reassurrance, and some very cheery dwarfs later, and she was singing and smiling! It was better than I remember. I even had to watch it again alone so I could enjoy it better.
I absolutely love this new and updated version of this classic Disney film. Amazing bonus features, including story boards that elude to a sequel. I have loved this movie since I first watched it as a little girl. Now I get to introduce it to my children all over again. Fantastic!
Having a six year old daughter means we have to keep up with all this Disney and this movie made for a special afternoon with my daughter. I could share my Disney memories with her and take delight in her being stunned by the animation and all the extras. Parents will want to snatch this one up before it heads into the vault! A complete library of all the Disney classics on beautiful Blu-Ray is a must, I hope Disney will keep up this tradition.
The quality of the Blu Ray disc in this Diamond Edition set is amazing, the colors seem to come alive and the sound is crystal clear, much different from the same Snow White Ive seen as a little girl - this is a totally new experience. The Blu Ray and DVD menu is extremly easy to navigate as well. The fact you get both DVD and Blue Ray discs in this set make it versatile and perfect for traveling so you definatly get your moneys worth. On top of it all my 4 year old begs me to keep playing it every day she just loves it.
The magic of Disney comes alive in this remastered version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The colors are brighter, the sound is outstanding and the whole experience is wonderful! This set comes with the standard DVD (great for car trips!) and the Blu-ray DVD of the movie and a Blu-Ray Bonus Features disk. I hadn't seen this movie in years, and was anxious to share it with my children. We popped some popcorn, snuggled together on the couch and watched the show. My boys are 6 and 4 and were positively mesmerized! They laughed at the dwarfs and were nervous about the "mean lady" and the poisoned apple. I'm still humming "Someday My Prince Will Come." The story is just as wonderful as you remember - true love prevails! My guys also enjoyed the trailer for The Princess and The Frog. I had to promise to take them to see it when it's released. Thanks for the fantastic job restoring this classic, Disney! Can't wait to see what you release next!
