The large 51 Oz can makes the best clam chowder!

Alonzo March 10, 2026

I love this clams! I used them to turn supermarket canned clam chowder into something special! I buy a large can of the I buy three large cans of either Campbell's or Progreso's clam chowder the thick and hearty ones ready to heat and serve, and add them with two large potatoes peeled diced and pre-boiled (or you can buy two 15 oz cans of diced potatoes, Great value brand is fine.) add potatoes and the three soups to a pot on the stove and add half cup of sour cream or heavy cream of your choice and finally, pour in the entire 51 Oz can of Snow's wild caught ocean clams, juice and all, no need to add salt heat on the stove %26 add a little black pepper to taste %26 enjoy! serve with sourdough bread and/or some of those small little oyster crackers to float on the chowder. I like a couple dashes of Tabasco sauce in mine, but that's just me. 😋 This will fill about four large bowls or five or six regular bowls. this recipe will give San Francisco's fisherman's wharf clam chowder or New England clam chowder a run for their money.

Bigger is better for clam chowder

Meghan January 31, 2026

Buying the big can of clams is significantly less expensive than buying the small ones. When I make clam chowder, I need just a little less than the big can, so I use the whole thing. It's less expensive to make the soup that way AND there are less cans to open. Double win!

Enjoy This So Much, It Will Be Discontinued!!

Anonymous April 30, 2026

I bought this to make my own Manhattan Clam Chowder, and it is terrific, gives me SOME control over the sodium vs. canned soup and I use organic veggies and good spices. I even made clam fritters with this, and pasta, regular tomato and then a variation on a theme with capers, onions and shrimp, and it's really good. and helps scratch an itch, because availability of clams where I live is limited, even though we're near the ocean, and the prices are through the roof, surprise!

Excellent product

Trisha63 November 1, 2025

We grew up clamming in the river so I know how fresh clams taste. Snow's clams taste very similar to fresh clams, without all the hassle of having to open them! Excellent choice!

Party size can

Debbie January 29, 2026

Great for party size clam chowder and clam dip made with cream cheese and lemon juice. Big chunky pieces of clam with a fresh taste. Always check for shell pieces in bottom of can as this is a 100% natural product. Excellent value.

Tender with lot of clam juice

anonymous May 31, 2025

The clams are tender and very delicious. I like that there's no chemicals. There were 15 ounces of clams and 4 cups of clam juice so the 51 ounce can was half juice. Yes I did measure it on a scale. It worked well for making a large batch of clam chowder since I needed clam juice anyways. Think you might get more clams to juice ratio buying the smaller cans, but these are my favorite canned clams and they are very tender. Chowder turned out delicious.

Favorite clam sauce.

Brightprospect August 15, 2020

Makes a delicious clam sauce for pasta, and extra can be frozen for use another day. Sauté 6 Tbs chopped garlic with 3 bunches of parsley. Add tsp ground white pepper, and 1/2 tsp ground thyme. Add clams and an equal amount of water. Finish off with a 1/2 cup [1 cube] butter. Heat slowly until butter melts, but do not boil. Serve over pasta [shells, perhaps] with plenty of grated Parmesan or Romano.

Snows chopped clams are really good

Robert February 9, 2025

I make New ENgland Clam Chowder a few times a year. FOr the Money and taste, SNOWS is a really good choice for chopped clams. THe size of the amount for the money is good. Much smalled cans, more clam juice than clams are a lot more expensive. I've used a few different brands and I truly like SNOWS.

Good clams for soups

Tim October 10, 2025

This is a good product, but not one of the best ones I have used. I use this product quite a bit because that is all that is available for my local Walmart stores. I wish the clam broth had a bit more flavor. Also, clams could be a little less toward minced than chopped. I would like to see larger pieces of chopped clams in this large can.

Bumble Bee 28oz mostly juice with Chopped Clams

Susan November 1, 2025

Says "in clam juice". Each can was at least 60% liquid. I've always bought the smaller cans, which are fine, so this was shocking. These large cans should be labeled Clam Juice with chopped clam bits. Or, list the drained weight, like tuna.
