it's a great game and with the headset it is a great value
this game blows cod 4 out of the water!!!!
Headset works as advertised. Great range - I've walked away from the game all the way in my basement and I could still hear people talking online. Was a little difficult syncing the headset because of the lack of directions, but it was easy to use after that. I'm very happy with it. It actually fits better than my cell phone headset, too.
I have been a life long SOCOM player. I have loved it from the start. I have the beta version (limited edition) for this newest SOCOM game which is basically the tester right before the actual version drops. I love it. Since it is beta, it has it's glitches, and issues that are undesirable, but I've heard on the website that they've fixed the big problems (for online play.) SOCOM is not necessarily the best single player game, although it's not bad by any means, but for online play, there are none better. This SOCOM has made huge graphics upgrades, and subtle improvements to the online play. It will probably be the only game I buy and play for my PS3, until the next one comes out. It's that good.
This software had a number of problems at initial release. The software shoud not have been released. The good news is that the game will be great when the issues have been fully fixed. Receiving the high qaulity wireless headset made this a great value.
They are still working out some bugs in this game but it's a great game. A bit of a different feel from past SOCOM's but you get used to it. The maps look great. I like what they did with the 3 older maps, Desert Glory, Crossroads and Frostfire. The new maps are fun. The headset is the best I've ever used. Nice and clear and works a long time after being charged. (supposedly up to 12 hours)
When I got my PS3, one of the main games I wanted was this one. I loved Socom before, even on the PSP. However, the original developer was busy building MAG, which is coming out this holiday, so the franchise was handed down to Slant 6. They do ok, just not the greatness I've come to know from this series. It's online only, which is bad enough. No single player, no co-op even. The only thing you can do is the competitive multiplayer. At first, the game had problems. It's been patched enough though. It's actually a pretty tactical game now, with great gameplay and visuals. However, if a developer makes a multiplayer only game, they really need to put more maps into the game. Slant 6 didn't. There are 7 maps, (good maps yes), but just 7. It wasn't good at all at first. Now, it's worth the $40. This one is $60 because it comes with the bluetooth headset, which is $50 by itself so this is actually a pretty good deal.
Do not waste your time with this game unless you just want a nice headset. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars for value. The game is horrible and the graphics are very very sub-par. If you do buy it and play it, don't be frusrtated because I can tell you everyone else WILL be way better because they are probally die hard fans. I will play my resistance 2 beta and COD4...still the best online game by the way...until COD:WaW comes out. If you want a game now, get Dead Space!
i would have never bought this game if i knew it took so long just to play the game it would have been way better if it was a 1 player game but its not so it sucks im going to return it so i can get my money back and spend it on something way better than this stupid game
