SodaStream Glass Sparkling Water Carafe, 620 ml Bottle

For everyone who has issues with this new bottle with their Penguin machine. I had exactly the same issue. I contacted Sodastream and they replaced my machine with a new one absolutely free and the problem is now gone. Apparently, old models of Penguin do not work well with this new bottle and because of that Sodastream replaces the machines with new ones. Since Penguin machines have lifetime warranty the replacement process is absolutely free.

We purchased a Penguin machine a couple years ago. The caps did not hold up...so they sent two new caps at no charge. BUT, th ecaps didnt fit cuz our bottles were discontinued, so I called back and they sent two new bottles...all for no charge. Now that is what I call standing beind your product!! I am huge SodaStream fan!!

I bought the Penguin model specifically because it uses glass carafes and our family has been very pleased with it. We use it everyday, and when we entertain the carafes look great on the table or our impromptu mini-bar. The Penguin looks great on the mini-bar too!! We purchased 2 extra carafes for such occasions so that we have plenty of cold, bubbly water. When we need to clean the carafe, we hand wash them with regular liquid dish soap and a bottle brush so we don't have any problems with clouded glass. As soon as the bottles are washed we fill them right up again; no need to dry them since they are going to filled with water. ;-) We couldn't be happier having sparkling water without having to cart it home from the store.

I ordered two glass carafes. When they were delivered, one was broken. I called to get a replacement and it was literally the easiest call to a customer service line I have ever had! The woman I spoke to was apologetic and worried that I may have hurt myself on broken glass. So sweet. She sent me a new carafe confirmation in my email that day! Just received the new one and it's not broken. This has been the best customer service call I have ever had! Thank you, SodaStream!

I'm so glad SodaStream is making these replacement carafes available. Glass is so much better than plastic! The carafes that came with our Penguin died relatively quickly. (The original design of the plastic tops was not the best - the tops cracked easily and let the fizz out.) But the new tops seems much better designed for the long haul, and we are glad to be back in business.

This new design for the glass carafe works much better than the previous cap for the glass carafe; however, my problem is that I have several of the older glass carafes and was looking for replacement caps for that design. The only design now offered is the screw-top glass carafe. For a company touting conservation, one would think that the older caps would be available, at least for those of us with the original tops so that we don't have to discard the older glass bottles just because there is no longer a cap made to fit them. The new design is better and the cap works fine ... I just resent having to purchase new bottles and discard my old bottles simply because Sodastream is no longer making available the old caps.

For Jeege & others: The cloudiness in the glass caraffe is probably due to one of the elements in the glass recipe "leeching" out. This may look similar to a drinking glass that you have cleaned many times in your electric dishwasher - it will develop a white film that cannot be washed or rubbed off. Glass is made from a mix of sand, lime, & soda - it is either the lime or soda that is leeching onto the surface of the glass. Best remedy is to buy some denture cleanser, put it caraffe, fill with hot water & let it sit for at least 12 hours. If that doesn't work, I don't know what will. Baking soda and/or vinegar are not as strong as the denture cleaner.

I got replacement bottles and caps when the original caps (now discontinued) for my Penguin bottles cracked. The new bottles do not seal completely with the nozzle, so the carbonation is weak and most of the gas is just venting out. Very disappointing.

It was horrible as the site did not say it would not fit my Sodastream maker! Your practice of changing the bottles so they don't all work with all bottles is the most stupid idea I can think of!

Cleaning the plastic bottles can be difficult as the bottoms hold water and create mold. I really would prefer to use the glass bottles but they aren't compatible with my soda stream and the ones they say they are compatible with aren't even for sale on the site?? I'm really confused as to why they would have the bottles but not the corresponding machine…
