Really sharp knife and I like the way to tools lock into place. A little tough to pull out a specific tool with my stubby fingers, but that's a me problem.
all the functions of the multitool work like a charm and the opening and closing mechanism is one of the best that I've seen from any product out there.
Great EDC tool. This is a replacement to one I lost while upland hunting. Carry this always when bird hunting in case my dog pick up thorns and such. Precision pliers really help in removal of such stuff from my dog.
I spoke earlier in the year at the Outdoor Retailer show with a SOG rep. I was so impressed with her knowledge and kindness I outfitted the Field to Grill crew with SOG!!!
The latching system usually cannot handle the leverage and torque of basic applications. The force of application causes the tools to brake free from the latch and either move towards the closed position or, beyond the 180 degree open position and then the tool becomes lodged at some obscure angle to the device and then the tool is completely unusable at that point.... bottom line is, if you're looking for a reliable tool that feels secure during use, keep looking because this particular tool is not the one for you.
I like SOG products, but was disappointed it didn't come with a belt pouch, no handle guards when using wire cutters, the other tools are a bit to get open to use,but again quality is great
Had this for almost a year now, got it at Costco so I got the nylon sheath to go with it. After a week of use however the soft side of the velcro pulled out and over time, it has just gotten worse and it barely stays closed anymore. The included bits that come with it are fine for extremely light use but if you put any amount of torque on it they slip in the holder at the top of the tool. The silver pins that hold on the plate with your angle measurements keep falling out and I just pop them back in by hand. After use in my fishing kayak without being submerged, they have accumulated rust around the screws and the wire cutters in the pliers. Good things about this multitool are the positive locking system for the knife and such, and the knife is good and sharp from the factory.
I bought this tool a little over 6 months ago and haven't used any tool except the pliers till yesterday. Yesterday I had to remove the license plate from the back of my car and the phillips head screws were stuck. Instead of stripping the head of the screw the phillips head screwdriver stripped. So I tried using just a flat blade screwdriver and it too bent as I tried to remove the screws. I finally found a real screwdriver and had not trouble removing the screws. I must say I'm very disappointed because I have always thought SOG made great tools.
I do not recommend. I do maintenance for local school district I use my knife on a daily basis I know I'm rough on him but Leatherman last me about three years this one didn't even last one year. What sold me on this one over a Leatherman this time was the hex bit accessory it slips under pressure didn't work the first day now the knife lock doesn't hold very unsafe. I did not keep my receipt so the warranty is junk. leathermen does not require receipts to be kept for 20 years I guess I'm going back to a Leatherman
My summer job is working for a moving company. The knife blade hyperextends if roughly 5 pounds of pressure is applied to (typical trigger pull force) and the flat screw driver is now shaped more like a cork screw. I've contacted sog twice to resolve my issue.but haven't heard back from them. It's been a week.
