We also get very heavy snow in the winter and have ended up stuck on the road, or stuck in the house and have even lost power because of storms. Well this bivvy is the perfect addition to the cars emergency kit. Last time we got stuck out on the road in the snow, I sat their so cold and worried, but with this in the car, I'll feel confident that we have something to protect us from the cold!

This thermal bivvy is exactly the way it is described in the product description. It has a sleeping bag type construction and seems to hold heat well. It's pretty warm out so I haven't been able to test it in cold climates yet. The seams are velcroed together on one side. There is a ventilation opening with mesh at the bottom of you need circulation. I took one star away for the whistle. Its range is not far enough to be heard long distances. My boyfriend could not hear me blowing into it (in the front yard) from the backyard. I also removed one star for the cinch bag that it came in. Once you unfold the Bivvy, it's impossible to refold it tight enough to fit back into the bag…as you can see from the picture. The material is so lightweight that it will not cooperate with you when you were trying to refold it. You would definitely need a second person to help you refold it any smaller to fit inside of the bag.
