We loved our Yukon so we didn't hesitate to get the Ranger. Perfect size for camping. Not bulky and so it's easy to transport especially with the carrying bag it came with. Gives off a lot heat for such a small fire pit. Love it!
I'm so happy with this stove. It is compact and small enough to move and transport, but large enough to warm a group around and make s'mores with the kids.
This fire pit is awesome. One of our biggest problems with doing an outdoor fire has always been the smoke. My wife is not a fan of it. Since we got this we have had a fire almost every night. No smoke issues! The ranger is on the smallish side but it is big enough for us. The heat that it puts out is also better than any other pit we have owned. My only complaint, which really isn't a complaint, is that due to it efficiency of airflow it burns through wood fast. Great pit and highly recommend it!
Great quality and modern look. However this size is a bit too small for our backyard. It would be perfect for camping or a small patio or yard. The carrying case really makes it easier to be portable. Keep in mind you will have to chop regular firewood to fit in this fire pit.
We have a porch that we enclose in corrugated plastic each winter, and this stove burns clean, once it gets going. We were able to keep it smoke free with a simple exhaust fan. The ceiling stayed cool enough that the plastic soffit didn't melt, but the whole porch was warm, even though it was 30° outside.
The stove is fantastic. Works well at focusing a fire. I highly recommend NOT putting so much wood in that it sits above the edge of the opening. If you do you could get a lot of smoke, gassification happens best when the wood is below the edge, in turn reducing smoke. Although there are some ok accessories I would recommend just upgrading to the next higher stove versus getting the accessories. Bigger stove means more heat and fire, you can always get creative with accessories of your own.
I love sitting in front of a fire on a cold evening, but don't enjoy walking away smelling of fire and ash. with the Solo stove I can now enjoy the experience. I also love the versatility. I can just sit and enjoy the fire or I can roast a hot dog, make a smore, or use an accessory and cook a steak. I look forward to many nights sitting in front of my Solo stove.
So glad we bought this. Used it tonight for the first time and loved it. I need to buy some accessories for it but that will come at a later date. These have great reviews for a reason!
I was a bit skeptical at first but this is actually a nice little camp fire stove. What I love is that it is made of great material, doesn't warp or bend. And it actually works as described. Not a lot of smoke and searing heat coming out on top. Great for marshmallows or sausages. There are only two problems I see with the smaller size solo stove. You kinda need quite small pieces of wood, to fit into the barrel, or else theywill stick out and then it isn't quite as smoke free anymore. And with the insulation of the secondary air flow, it doesn't give up a lot of heat to the side. So it is not great to warm you up actually. Not quite the cozy feeling. But very nice to watch. I am sure the bigger one is better at home in our yard, but this works better to take with us in the RV.
If only it arrived undamaged , looked like it had been kicked to my door step. The sides, the top all caved in.Was it the shipping company ? I returned the Solo stove today at Walmart. No hassle easy return. I'll be reordering soon as I get refunded, it looked like it was a good stove.
