Sony 4GB Digital Voice Recorder with Volume Control, Black, ICDPX470_K5

Excellent, low tech, off-line recorder. Small and easy to use, you can keep it in your pants pocket and it will record clearly enough to replay conversations (I found this out on accident). Great for keeping notes or recording important phone conversations without using space on your phone and without the possibility of your conversations and private notes being downloaded from your connected device by bad actors. It has more storage than I could every use and files can be downloaded to a desktop or laptop if you would like. I have used it for 10 hours so far, so the battery life is good. If you want, you can transfer files to a computer with the built in USB which is a nice feature. There are a LOT of options for managing files which I don't find intuitive (I would def need to use the instructions to figure this bit out) but would be useful for someone who uses it for recording and storing meetings or lectures. You can do basic recordings right out of the box with a minimal learning curve. It's not high fidelity (for recording and playing back music) though it might be OK using headphones - I haven't tried it. This little Sony recorder absolutely gets its intended job done.

I have used the exact recorder at work before, but i misplaced it. it is a great recorder. the service and availability were perfect, and the delivery was great. The unfortunate thing is o now have two of them because i found the other recorder after this one got here.

My husband and I are into paranormal investigations and this recorder is exactly what we wanted. Clear voice for EVPs and lectures. Close up, directional recordings for other things. We love it too that it hooks right up to a computer for downloading files, no extra cords to lose. The hard carry case is also extra nice to have. We both recommend this recorder!

I purchased this product to replace one I already had. I have rarely seen another digital recorder that is so easy to use and gives the sound quality that this one has. I very strongly recommend this device.

The 'pop-out' USB port is very helpful because an external USB cable is not need to connect to a computer. Very good sound quality on the recordings too

I bought this to record some voices for auditions and lecture classes. Tested it out and I am really happy with it. It is very sensitive and picks up sound extremely well. So well that if there is the slightest noise it will pick it up, I was recording in one room and it picked up the water running in the kitchen. So gotta mess with the settings to your sensitivity preferences. Also it can record long periods of time, left it on after a lecture without realizing it and when I did it was 4 hours later without turing off. Great battery life, going back to the quality, I recorded a conversation in a car on a busy highway, after learning how to set the settings to my liking. Gotta say, best thing ever, I have used more expensive recorders in film classes and this is a great alternative for beginners who want to mess with this. It is cheap, good quality and fun as well. Sorry I ramble, just wanted to share everything I could after testing and having it for a few months now. Highly recommend.
