My wife bought this TV for me a few years ago for one of my birthdays. I don't recall exactly how long ago that was, but this TV has been awesome since I received it. I've owed Sony products in the past and will continue to be a loyal customer as long as they keep making things I need.
I originally had the XBR75X850C and was not happy with the light bleed (clouding) that would show up during black scenes. This model, X900F takes care of that with the full array local dimming which makes a huge difference. 4K movies look like cinema, and you can really see a wider difference compared to blu-ray. Blacks are amazing, and the video processing of the TV is much better compared to the other models. I am really happy with the product. I am basically re-watching all the 4K Blu-rays I have as the spectrum of colors is much wider. You will not be disappointed with this model.
Awesome tv with beautiful picture quality. it was time for an upgrade since our old KBL blew out on us during a storm. 4KUHD is Really fantastic. even the sound is more than enough. but i will be looking to get the matching sound bar. the packaging was great and set wasn't hard.
I'm giving this tv a 5-star. Yes, it's a really good tv... but, where they earned their 5-star rating with me was when I had an issue with a line going across the tv... they sent me out a new one. Sony stood behind their product and made the exchange fairly painless. Good job SONY!!! Thank you.
Sony BRAVIA is one heck of a brand that never falls short of its name. I was instantly blown away after I set up my tv and turned on Netflix to view a Dolby Vision movie. Perfect astonishing colors. It literally a must see to believe kind of thing, especially after you correctly do a calibration. Don't have much at all to say about the audio, because I instantly hooked my tv up to my Bose system. All 4K settings worked perfectly on my Xbox One S too, in case anyone is wondering. (Same settings for the Xbox One X too). I say don't hesitate, just buy it and enjoy the gloriousiness that Sony has made. I don't feel at all like I bought a “mid end tv” definitely feels like a flagship tv!! 5/5
My biggest complaint about other HD TVs has been that they make content look like a soap opera. I find them completely distracting; they break the magic of movies and make all other content look garish. I always assumed that was just what happened when you started watching in high definition, but this Sony somehow solves that problem while still delivering clarity and detail. I have it set to one of the pre-set video settings (movie or something). Everything looks natural, and when watching a movie, I feel like I'm in a theater.
I bought an 82" Samsung Q6FN for quite a bit less than this set, however the grey uniformity and dirty screen effect was really poor. I don't want to compromise on this kind of purchase when I expect to have the set for 5+ years, so I returned it and spent a little extra for the 85" Sony X900F. The FALD and much improved backlighting meant that grey uniformity and color reproduction was orders of magnitude better than the Samsung. I hadn't been a Sony fan in the past but this set has changed that. Color reproduction is close to perfect without calibration and the advanced picture options produce a great reference picture. I highly recommend this set. Now that the OS has updated to Oreo, The UI is even better than when I bought the set. Much more snappy and responsive. A true Android TV is definitely the way to go! If you're on the fence, just go for it. You won't be disappointed.
I bought this Sony 900 series three weeks ago. I was really leaning more towards the Sony 950 series, but, the overall specs were very close. And the Sony 900 series did not disappoint one bit. The 4k movies that a I play on this tv, is truly amazing and stunning. I know the Sony 950 is the newest and better, but I'm happy with my purchase, and it was $500 less then the 950.
We've had our new Sony about 3 1/2 weeks and it's not wowing me. I def. liked my Samsung better. This picture isn't as crisp. I also bought the Sony sound bad and almost every time I'm watching a show or movie I have to reset the sound bar because it's not in sync with the picture. Very frustrating.
This TV looks great even though I have not seen anything in 4K yet. The contrast is rich and the colors are vibrant. However, the functionality and menus are somewhat a very big disappointment. The remote is also terrible as the buttons are so close together that it's very difficult to make your selection without choosing something else. I don't have big hands so I can only imagine what it would be like for someone with big hands. The menus get locked up at times and changing simple things like the channels and volume are delayed at times. Processing commands seemed to be difficult for this TV as it's not very responsive.
