I am blown away by the response time of this panel. The full array backlighting slaughters my Samsung Q8FN. It has Dolby Vision plus HDR 10+. Where the Samsung doesn't have Dolby Vision. The colours are so much more spot on where the Samsung is severely over saturated!!
I was swaying between the Samsung Q8FN and the Sony X900F. I chose the Sony because of picture quality. The Samsung has a great picture, but it just looked over saturated and artificial compared to the Sony. I waited for the X950G because of the uprated X1 Ultimate processor, improvements to the sound and remote, and upgrade to the newest Android OS. Set up of the new TV was a breeze. As a benefit I was not aware of, after set up I was able to control my DirecTV box and volume on my Onkyo receiver all from the Sony remote. (Connected via ARC) I was also able to stop using my Roku streaming box due to the wide array of apps available through google play. I was going to reprogram my Logitech Harmony remote and realized I don't need it any longer. This was a pleasant surprise. I used the recommended picture settings from RTINGS.com for the X900F and they worked just fine for the X950G. One complaint or observation....you have to set picture settings for every HDMI input and every app separately. So be mindful of that. The picture in all modes looks amazing. This TV upscales wonderfully. Motion control can be applied to improve the picture without the soap opera effect. Blacks look black, even in a dark room. Some complain about blooming with the X900F. I have not really noticed that. The TV gets plenty bright enough. It has taken some getting used too after my 12 year old Hitachi plasma that this TV replaces. The only real knock is the off angle viewing as the image quality changes. While picture quality decreases its still watchable. Most of the time we are sitting in front of the TV so its not a big problem for us. The sound from the TV is much better than I expected and we use the TV speakers most of the time. I use the Onkyo receiver for movies and other times when we want surround sound. So far I am very happy with my purchase. I would recommend this TV
I've had this BRAVIA television for just over five years (AUG 2019). It is without doubt the best TV I have ever owned. I am a huge Sony fan and this is my fifth Sony TV over time. (And the only reason I switched was to get newer technology, all the others still worked.) The clarity of the picture and ease of overall operation are perfect. The smart function interface is very user friendly, settings are very straightforward. The HDMI connection is flawless, and even five years later I have yet to actually see a better picture on newer televisions. I'm extremely happy with the purchase, and though newer versions are available I have no plans to 'upgrade' - because there is no need. Fantastic TV.
Excellent picture courtesy of the ultra porcessor. Great for streaming, video games, and movies. It handles reflection well and the black levels are on point. Easy to use interface thanks to the google operating systems. A true masterpiece by Sony.
Absolutely love my new TV; the fact that speakers are build in the front of TV makes huge difference for the sound. As I live in an apartment building I can't go wild building extra sound systems, so, TV is perfect without any extras. Easy to use, I like the fact that it is android based. Overall - 5 stars!
I have owned this set for 3 months now and it is a complete beast. Had my choices narrowed down to this set, the X900F, Panasonic and Samsung. After lots of research and reading customer reviews I ended up going with the 950G and so glad I did. Picture quality in 4K is off the charts and HD content looks awesome as well, very close to 4K due to the ultimate 1 processor inside. Have the TV matched up with a Denon 4K receiver, Sony 4K Blu Ray player and Telus 4K cable box. Only minor negative is a bit of ghosting when white lettering is on a black background. If you are considering this set in any of the available sizes you should have no reservations whatsoever. Highly recommended!
I've had this panel TV for about a month now and can say I'm absolutely astounded by the vivid colours and hdr options when gaming. Once calibrated properly movies and games take on a new life. Thoroughly enjoy it for ps4 and movies and the Netflix calibration option is amazing. Any 4K quality content absolutely pops and this panel is sleek when paired with my bdi corridor unit. It's absolutely stellar and minimalistic if styled right
Great true to life colors but the tv died after 4 years and 7 months. My another Sony TV also died within 5 years so do not overspend money on expensive Sony tv sets, they will be dead within 5 years.
I enjoyed this TV, for the most part, while it lasted. It was a little sluggish in the OS and occasionally would freeze but the picture was good. Unfortunantly after 4 and a half years the TV died on me. I do expect a longer lifespan out of these things and will probably look at changing brands after this one.
I've been waiting for over a month for my 3rd replacement tv . Features and quality of picture is great however motherboard has issues. Do not even consider buying without extended warranty. I purchased XBR65X950G in May and I've been without tv longer more than with one . Sony was to me once a brand of quality but I guess times have changed . I've decided to keep my older tv handy for the next replacement.
