8k at 85” is just what my media room ordered. In combination with my meridian audio and forthcoming custom seating it completes a theater like setting with a crystal clear picture. The Ypres really makes a difference and the integration with Google home is. a nice touch. Keep in mind if you buy this bad boy, you'll need two people to mount it.
The previous Z9J was damaged due to lightening strike brought in by cable. Insurance replaced with Z9K. The original Z replaced an XBR8. I strongly recommend Sony Screens. The Z series is fantastic. I drive the screen with a Marantz 8015 so that all upscaling is performed. Sound is through Klipsch 9.2 speaker system.
Purchased the 85" Z9K in AUG22. So far I will say that watching the Z9K is a delight from the indepth detail, contrast, Colors, Deep Blacks, the upscaling to near 8K Resolution with only a small degree of Blooming. With high quality content the picture is stunning and definitely resembles looking out a window that has no glass in place.
After much research I purchased Sony's Z9K 85" television to replace a Sony Vpl-Vz1000 UST projector, and all I can say is WOW! The upscaling makes 1960 Lost In Space episodes look like 4K, and the Super Bowl was as if I was there watching in person. Sony has done it again!
I got this TV 2 months ago and love it I replaced my old 79" Sony XBR witch was great and stills works I just wanted to upgrade and I'm so happy I did.
Sony the did it again the best tv ever excellent picture
I decided to upgrade my 65' A9F in my living room to the 85' Z9K. Moved the A9F into my bedroom to replace the 52' Bravia that was about 18 years old (and still pretty great!). I thought I would be absolutely blown away by the Z9K because of its price point and I was, but only with high quality content. Other times when the content quality was mediocre, I wasn't all that impressed. I traded for the 83' A90J and I'm pretty happy with that. And the camera it comes with is pretty useless unless you use it with an app compatible with the TV (very disappointing-Sony, you need to do better for that price!).
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the picture quality. It also looks good in a bright room. Should you need the built in speakers, they are surprisingly good. Overall, a very nice TV
I purchased the 85" z9K 9 months ago and I have been really impressed with quality of the pictures and movie experience. Game Play and Netflix picture quality is stunning. The TV was easy to setup and out of the box configuration was spot on for my environment. I have it connected to my home stereo system and it completes my cinematic experience that I expected. The TV quality is by far the best I have ever seen. The materials and components used for this TV are solid and can probably last for a generation. The reason I did not give it 5 stars was google tv and native you tube application. You can only get 4K resolution through the native you tube app on google tv. However, the TV does a great job upscaling 8k youtube videos to look like 8k, but it does not compare to having true 8k resolution. I hope google tv and sony work this out to be able to show 8k videos on you tube through the native app on google tv.
