Sony Pictures - District 9 [DIGITAL VIDEO DISC]

Usually in a film involving aliens and humans. The first few scenarios that would come to mind is ... Let me guess.. aliens invading earth.... buildings blowing up.... earthlings being plasma rayed to bits.... evil looking aliens seeking to destroy earth for galaxy supremecy. That's the exact opposite in this film. Which is NOT to say... well if that's not what's happening then how can this even be a movie about aliens and humans?? That's what great about this film. It's a diffrent approach. AMAZING story telling. Great FX's for a lower budget film. I won't reveal the storyline. But this film is fresh, new material, well written and did I mention great action scenes? It sort of has a documentary take on it, Which makes it more believable and even more exiciting. You will not be dissapointed. A must own.

This is one of those movies where you'll either "love it" or "hate it", so I would recommend that you rent it first before you buy it, although I loved it. The movie is a snapshot of events unfolding in real time, and not everything that you see is explained right away, or even at all sometimes, leaving your mind to churn and try to deduce what is happening, so if you are the inquisitive type and like SciFi movies, then you'll probably love it, but if not, then you probably won't get it at all. The movie has more to do with the complex coexistence between the humans and the aliens than it does anything else.

I liked the concept, the special effects were pretty good, and the story was well done. It was a little hard to understand the actors sometimes, but I think that's fairly common with international actors. I wish I had bought a director's cut, though, because I sort of felt like there was something missing somehow.

This movie didn't hold my interest at all. The plot was awful and boring. The only good thing about this movie was the end. The guy that got infected killed the bad guys who were trying to use him as a weapon. Even though he mutated into one of them, he never forgot the love he had for his wife.

I'm not sure what I expected to see in this movie. I did like it, even though it had TONS of racial undertones to it. I guess that was supposed to be the point of the movie. Rent the movie first before you buy it just to make sure you like it. I usually do but I didn't in this case. May not have purchased it otherwise.

This movie will not hold your attention until you get to the action scenes, and even then I will only give you a quick laugh or gross you out. I could not understand how the coach roach looking aliens were able to communicate with the humans so easily. I went to see this movie in the theater because I had free tickets and I went to sleep. That is how bad this movie was. I would not waste my money or time purchasing this movie.
