Sony Pictures - Persuasion [DIGITAL VIDEO DISC]

Great adaptation of Jane Austin book. The actors and setting are wonderful. The BBC is good at making very British mini series, excellent execution of the book.

My mother is a movie buff %26 she says this is a fantastic movie.

Amanda Root and Cieran Hinds play two lovers who were torn apart in their youth by a nosy well meaning friend of Amanda's character Anne Eliot who has turned down the marriage proposal of Captain Wentworth (Cieran Hinds). You see the struggle ensues as she realizes that even though the past is there she has never stopped loving him . Will it be too late for them ? Set in England it has some of the most beautiful scenery. The acting of this movie is super. It is a must seen for any Jane Austen fan and or anyone wanting to see a genuinely lovely story.

An earlier film adaptation, but done most true to the novel. Cast includes some recognized English favorites and while it may not totally sparkle, it satisfies genuine Austen fans.

What a deal on an excellent movie!

This romance by Jane Austen is a little more somber than say "Pride and Prejudice", but it is throughly satisfying. The ending is just right.

The presentation truncates some of the details in Jane Austen's "Persuasion". Many of us live beyond our income to the point of using Chapter 13 Bankruptcy which is the start point of this novel. Most of us do not understand the significance of the Great Britain's Peerage system though we flaunt our apparent wealth in other ways that are unacceptable. In this version the family remembers Anne's thwarted engagement at the beginning of the story and we become aware that the memory is painful. The story then unfolds with a now successful and paid out Captain Wentworth returning to the shire looking for a wife, his and Anne's painful re-acquaintance, and their reattachment and marriage. It is done in an entertaining way consistent with the novel.

Good acting, but not the best version.

Slow in developing, Jane Austin took examples of her own life to make this movie possible.
