Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) 12GB Gaming Console, Black

I knew going into this purchase that I would need additional space as I am aware of the limitations of a 12 GB system so I was fully prepared. That being said everything about the purchase went well and I ordered a larger hard drive for it as soon as I got it home. It works great now with a TB drive so I am set.

This is a good system to purchase if you don't download a lot of games and save them. I just buy my games and play them so this system is the right system for me. Now if you like to buy games on the PS network then you might need a bigger hard drive.

Tim and Jerry at Walmart treated me with the upmost of care at the Noblesville, Indiana location which made my purchase even more valuable. PS 4 you have to pay a yearly fee and download games to your system which I believe compromises your privacy for one. PS3 rocks and is way way worth the cost of the system and games by far in comparison to the new stuff. Why pay more and why should they ask for more in this economy. I am fortunate that my family is satisfied with the gift itself and not necessarily the more costly new product.

We had our first gen PS3 for over seven years before it finally died, presumably due to the overheating of the solders on the cpu. We wanted to get a PS4, but couldn't find any in stock and don't want to buy first gen anyways until they work any kinks out. Then we looked up regular blu-ray players, but found that any worth buying were nearly the same price as a super slim PS3, so why not get another one!? Pros: As quick, if not faster than our old first Gen. Crazy quiet! Much lighter and thinner than the old versions. Inexpensive, therefore a cheap replacement plan also. Cons: Doesn't play PS2 Games(tested). Disk tray got ghetto. Feels cheaper/chintzy. Only 2 USB ports. If your going to use this for Netflix/Dvd/Bluray and such, GO FOR IT! It's a great system for that. But, if want to play multiple advanced games, you're going to need a hard drive expansion to add to this. I just pulled out the HD from the dead system, and stuck it in the new one.

Small Hard Drive is eaten up quickly when gaming - thankfully the PS3 HD is easily upgradable. System is easy to use and works well for movies as well - though you may need an additional HDMI cable to watch BluRay. My non-gaming wife was easily able to use to play movies for the kids.

Instead of buying a PC/LAP. great beginner PS3 and on budget. Do not concern yourself with larger GB models 160/250/500 gb just buy or use an old flash drive laying around the house. Also shipping was awesome came in 2 days for $3 more

When I tried to download a free demo game it refused. I thought that Sony would have addressed this problem somehow but they sadly did not.... I will be doing an HDD upgrade soon. I should have spent the extra on at least a 250GB system. Just in case someone else finds themselves in the same boat here's the info you need for the upgrade. The mounting bracket MUST be ordered from Sony. I've included a snip of the required bracket. Sony also warns that 'The HDD must be a 2.5” internal Serial ATA HDD. Parallel ATA is not supported." The upgrade is not terribly expensive or difficultIf you're not comfortable in doing the hard drive upgrade yourself then spend the extra and get more memory out of the box. It is still a good system for those who like to stream movies etc.

PS3 Super Slim is a great value to those who want to save a few dollars. However the 12 gig flash drive is the issue with this console, I knew I could use my PS3 Slim hard drive but discovered that I had to buy additional bracket (available only thru China) from Amazon.com. Having said that, after receiving bracket it was very easy to install with a little coaching on Youtube. Save yourself some time by buying 250 gig Super Slim.

Buyer beware... if you think this PS3 will last you some years and you'll be able to play any game on it, you will be sadly disappointed. We did not realize upon purchasing the 12GB that it would not be able to play bigger games like Grand Tourismo 5. It did work for netflix and smaller games but our reason for buying it was to play GT5. We returned it and bought the 250GB bundle instead. Frustrating.

I did not realize that the console stores about 5GB of info for each game you play. I had to delete data just to play a third game. Why have a disc if they need to save this much data?
