Works great and is fun. Not really a necessity but at walmarts online price, why not :-) kids enjoy the free app games in the sony gameroom and I look forward to using it with any big games that utilize it. Hoping clancys seige does custom faces like vegas2 ....and morpheus vr will be here soon enough so controller light bar+camera+morpheus=awesomeness. Small and compact this makes my xbone kinect look large and awkward.
This camera was a gift for my husband. He loves it. I just wish I knew how to turn the mic off cause everyone who's playing the game are able to hear out conversation. And I wish it wasn't $60 but I know that they don't sell anything under $60, it's like their starting price.
The tech in the camera are cool and the little free game you get to test it with is fun for a little bit. Now they just need some real games that take advantage of it. Signing in with the camera and the voice commands are cool too but getting a technical in nba 2k14 when you yell at a bad call might be a little to realistic lol
The camera is very easy to set up. My gaming area is small, so a little more space might be better, but the camera works as intended. The amount of room light affects how good the picture appears on the TV, if it looks grainy and not a crisp picture, you just need a better lit room. Turn on a lamp or open shades during the day, to get the optimal picture on your TV. I got my PS4 on launch day, but I am so glad Sony sells the camera separately. The Playroom has more FREE games in it now to use with the camera. The voice commands are fun to play around with, the camera is not really a necessity but it is fun to see what it can do. The PS4 camera has potential as to what else Sony will want to do with it. I think the price is about right, same as a controller. It will get used occasionally, I am more into shooters, but I am happy with my purchase. It is really fun for kids. The game footage it can send out to friends is pretty amazing. I will enjoy exploring that aspect of it even more.
Not sure how to rate the camera but it works. It also tilts which is different than the PS3 camera. I also like the side-by-side viewing you can do. Easy to use!
the cam is a nice addition to any ps4, it is a great improvement of last ps eye cam. mega pixels are so much clearer and gives you a few little games to play with cam and controllers. a must have for any ps4 fan.
Thank you Sony for making this piece of equipment so affordable and yet having flawless graphics and outstanding entertainment that's greatly addicting! You did it again Sony! Xbox one what??
The camera is great everyone should have one
This camera is pretty cool. I have had the different playstation "eyes" since they debuted with the ps2. This one for the Ps4 is the best yet easily. Now with that being said , it has NOT been my most fun experience with the Playstation cameras. The "eye " for the ps2 came with lots of games and environments. Some of them were very simple and some of them were barely more than wallpapers, but there were enough of them that they seemed substantial and worth the asking price. Now the "eye " for the Ps3 came with no games but it had the availability of the "eye create" program which was pretty amazing. You could do screen grabs, stop motion video, video and audio editing and lots of basic tools. Now this new "eye" is much more capable than the others ever dreamed of. The only problem being a lack of use. There are just a handful of "games" currently available , all of which are very neat and shows off some interesting ideas but ultimately they are pretty short and do not offer much long term play. My 3 year old daughter loves several of the games but even she loses interest fairly quickly. I didn't purchase the camera for the present though, I bought it knowing that the future is bright for the Ps4 and the camera will be an integral aspect of the upcoming games( I hope). The voice commands work pretty well and I'm more than a little curious as to see how they utilize this feature in upcoming titles. One thing to remember is, "Lighting is key .".
Seems to work well in high lighting, but images become somewhat grainy in normal or low light. The mics pic up my voice well. I had my sound system turned up quite loud and it still responded well when I gave it voice commands. Facial recognition was nice because it stopped asking me who was logging in on this controller after I had it set up with the camera.
