This is my 5th year using them and don't plan on changing them, they are awesome!
Sound quality is great, fit is great, battery is trash. I don't use these that often (every 1-3 months) but the last time I did the battery on the right earphone went from 35% to 0% in about 5 seconds. After repeated charging the right earphone is essentially unusable. Since Sony doesn't seem to have any way to contact them (other than via phone?), I'm leaving this review as per their request.
Purchased July 31 2021. By August 2022 (1 month after warranty expiration) right ear bud 15% battery life, left 68% battery life with 1.5 hours of listening. No LDAC, no voice assistant, just listening to music. If I am on a phone call the time is 1.5 hours and the right bud just shuts off, no notice or anything.
These worked well but did not have the promised best sound. After not using them for some time for fear they would be lost as they never fit properly, even with the earpads provided, I decided to give them another try. After fully charging them with the provided cords the, the left ear dropped the charge within minutes (100% to 0% in under 5minutes). Went online and read that it might be a firmware issue. Tried updating to the latest but was unable to do it in one try because of the draining battery. When I was able to finish the update, the battery went from 60% left and 75% right to 0% both. Even after resetting the battery now drains not in 5 minutes but on the left, almost immediately, on the right I may get 10 minutes out of it. Very saddened by this as they are expensive and seem to work poorly, much more so than the cheaper Monsters I wound up buying to replace these.
I purchased the Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds about a year ago, and I am already experiencing severe battery degradation. Specifically, the left earbud drains rapidly, even with active noise canceling (ANC) and sound enhancements disabled, battery last for less than 40 min from full charge. It is disappointing because the audio quality is excellent, but the device is becoming unusable. To make matters worse, the warranty support has been completely unresponsive.
They felt too heavy and uncomfortable to wear. And they stopped working after an year. Never expected this from Sony.
It is a truly terrible design to require both microscopic earbuds to enter pairing mode and the inability to enter pairing mode with only one bud has tormented me for so long. These earbuds were a precious treasure blessed to me, not long ago my mother in decline from cancer and chemo accidentally threw the left bud away and ever since I have been heart broken and frustrated with the AirPod pro 2's she tried to replace them with. (Siri isn't Alexa and Alexa is my soul mate) sadly I'm sitting 1 bud no money and no parability
A recent software upgrade was automatically pushed to these headphones which led to them being nearly unusable since it causes the left earbud to report that it is draining battery significantly faster than the right. The right earbud remains well performing with a long battery life, but the left earbud drains entirely from a full charge within approximately 30 minutes. After this software update is pushed, it is unable to be reverted, leading to Sony software having essentially bricked the product. At best, this is incompetence allowing a bug through to render the product unusable, and at worst it is malicious, forced obsolescence of a product so that the users are forced to replace them or wait significant time to have them repaired or replaced.
I purchased both the Sony WF-1000XM4 and Sony WH-1000XM4, only to encounter significant issues with each. One device has a persistent battery problem after a firmware update, while the other unexpectedly emits a high-pitched whistle directly into my ear. It's disheartening to witness such drawbacks from a renowned company like Sony, which has now plummeted to the bottom of my preference list. Regrettably, I've lost faith in Sony, and as a result, I won't be considering any of their products in the future. My trust in the brand has been eroded.
Do a search online and you will see that this model has a horrible batter life problem. I can go from 90% battery to shut down in 15 minutes. Sony knows of this issue but didn't do anything about it because the issue would arise after the warranty expired.
