On a positive note, the build quality on these is exceptional. They feel very solid and I do believe the marketing as to how they will probably withstand drops with ease. The handling noise reduction and feedback elimination is also top-notch. Unfortunately, this might be too much of a good thing, since the gain on these is simply far too low. Connecting to a Sony XV-500, the mic needs to be perfectly centered a half inch from the mouth to properly hear from the loudspeaker. Even the slightest deviation causes a severe drop-off. For karaoke use this would be terrible being that most people do not have the discipline to hold the mic just so, or they will be shy to even hold a mic that close to begin with, and lastly, if they do everything properly, sharing the mic then brings more ick factor when others see how often lips touch the screen. I compared these to other mics on the XV-500 and they all required the input gain on the speaker to be at 50% tops. When I had the speaker at full gain with these, it still was nowhere near enough. I uploaded a comparison video on YT which you can find searching for "Sony ULTMIC1 wireless microphone issues" from Working Class Solutions.
