Top of the line and best in class headphones

Nikhil February 12, 2026

I've been using this line of Sony headphones from the XM3 and Sony headphones in general since 2000. The XM6 is a leap forward,.bringing back portability that went missing with the XM5 and improving the performance across sound quality and noise cancellation which first imporess during the XM3 and XM4. These headphones are particularly great if you love bass...and I so do. It fits like a dream as well.

XM6 are probably close to the best headphones

Quaid March 6, 2026

Great wireless noise cancelling headphones. They charge very fast and the battery life is can be verified audibly or on your phones screen. The touch sensitive controls take some getting use to but overall I'm impressed with them. The case is really well made and compact.

Very good noise cancellation.

LTE7777 June 18, 2026

I purchased these because my beats studio pro from a few years ago physically broke in such a way that they could no longer be repaired with duct tape. They are hands down the best noise cancelling Ive ever tried. So good that its spooky, you can feel that there is sound in the space around you, logically you but you cant hear it. Right now I am sitting in an AirBnB, the AC unit sounds like an idling truck engine, I measured it at its source to be 70 Decibels. These headphones nearly completely mute it, out of the box. The build quality is quite good, and the design and comfort of the headphones is also very good, their is not any pressure or discomfort of any kind. other reviews mention that the firmware in some cases doesn't seamlessly allow you to transfer or share the Bluetooth stream between multiple devices such as your phone AND your computer. Such functionality might not realistically be possible with the type of wireless protocol Bluetooth is, but if that is your use case maybe try the the apple product also. For exceptionally good audio and design get these.

Best Overall Headphones

KitKat FV January 11, 2026

I've had these for a few months now, and overall they are the best headphones for quality, comfort, sound, and anything in between. Best noise canceling out right now, decent equalizer and really comfortable.

Best headphones I've ever owned

btm5540 May 7, 2026

These are by far the best headphones I've ever owned. As an individual with cerebral palsy it's always been difficult for me to find a good fit in headphones and earbuds, but these headphones knock it out out of the park. I could wear them for hours and the sound quality is second to none. I can hear things in my music. I've never heard before and the noise cancellation allows me to tune out the world and escape the stress of life. Thank you Sony. You've got a fan for life now I want to try the XM six earbuds again because I don't think I was putting them in in the correct way

Uncomfortable

Anonymous January 4, 2026

While using the headphones left ear is constantly paining due to uncomfortable ear pads. It's spoiling the whole experience. It's really uncomfortable to wear it for half and hour.

Fingerprints everywhere / connectivity issues

Bob299788655 June 13, 2026

Here's a polished version of your review that keeps all your points but is clearer, more professional, and correct for typos and grammar: I bought the Sony WH‑1000XM6 a couple of weeks ago. Overall, the sound is good, and it would be nice if they sounded a bit better out of the box, but sound quality is not the main problem. The biggest issues are connectivity and multi‑device behavior. When the headphones are connected to both a MacBook and an iPhone, audio from the iPhone usually won't play while the MacBook is active unless I explicitly disconnect the MacBook. The dual‑device connection feature is very buggy in practice. Connecting to the Sony | Sound Connect app on iPhone is also very glitchy and often forces me to disconnect my laptop audio first. The fingerprint issue is also terrible. I regularly wipe them down with a microfiber cloth and light glasses cleaner spray, which cleans them off, but the moment I touch them again, new marks appear all over. The finish picks up fingerprints extremely easily. Once the EQ is customized, they sound good, but at this price point I would expect the connectivity issues across devices and with the app, as well as the fingerprint problem, not to exist. I think Sony should have spent more time on development and testing before releasing these headphones.

Good sound, horrible comfort

Toronto Sug November 18, 2025

I'm big fan of Sony products. After upgrading from my 7-year-old WH-1000XM3, I immediately noticed comfort issues with the new WH-1000XM6. The ear pads feel warmer with less ventilation, and my ears heat up far quicker than they ever did with the XM3. The fit is also too snug — the clamping force is strong enough that I get a headache after about 15 minutes. Maybe it's because I have larger ears or wear glasses, but this was never an issue with the XM3. The sound and ANC are phenomenal, but the overall comfort is a big step down for me, especially at this price point. I really wanted to keep the XM6, but after two weeks of regular use, the clamping force still hadn't eased up. Honestly, I wish could just repair my XM3s. They work fine, just the headband is taped up using duct tape becuase the plastic parts have cracked and sliding adjustments for the earcups no longer stay in place. One day, I hope Sony releases a model that returns to the comfort of the XM3/XM4s, and with a decent mic that doesn't make you sound like you're talking through a walkie-talkie.
