Great game

Addicted2BluRays April 16, 2010

Just what I expected from Soul Calibur series. Create a character is the best feature of the game. Son and daughter have created at least 10 fighters in the first week.

Well done and unique

Vexrook February 13, 2009

There are many fighting games out, from side scrollers to the games that now use the surrounds in great ways. This game has so many options and tons of unlockables as some of you may have heard. The thing I enjoyed most personally from the game (Aside from the beautiful level disign and mood setting soundtrack) is the vast character creation, tons of equipment combonations. Even with the game beaten there is more to do! Online brings a new level of fighting with a lot of skilled opponents. (Note to the wise, train up before hitting online or expect to loose a lot)

Soul Calibur IV!

CHiLLFiRe August 19, 2008

I'm not much for fighting games, but this game is a ton of fun. There's a lot of unlockable characters, a ton of unlockable weapons, and all sorts of unlockable character creation features. There's lots of other things to unlock as well! The graphics are awesome, the music is awesome, the characters are really neat and the game has a TON of other options as well. Character creation is very detailed and overall this was a very good buy, if for no other reason, replay value! Also, it's great fun with a few of your friends!! =)

This game is great! Goes back to the 1st version where weapons broke and possible hand to hand battles occur. Happy to have this game as Im just returning to the gamer circuit!

GREAT GAME !!

PantherVII November 2, 2009

To begin with i have been a fan of this title since it's first appearance on PS one as Soul Blade. I have played and own all the titles since including Soul Calibur IV. This game series keeps getting better! No matter what previous Soul Calibur titles you play the characters moves remain fairly the same so it's not a hassel to relearn new moves and with added charactes this game is one of the best!! Great Visuals and also now the chance to compete online against friends is a nice added feature. Hands down one of my all time favorite and if you have been thinking of getting this game i'd grab it now because you can't beat the dropped price for a game this good.

High Calibur Game

coo1hand January 9, 2011

This game is one of the best fighting games I've played on the ps3.It has lots of good characters to choose from and some really cool moves to master.I highly recommend it and thought the addition of Darth Vader was a nice touch.

great game!

Controls are right on. Customization is great with lots of different clothes and items to choose from. I like the level ups as your fighter gains experience. The $29.99 price is perfect.

Great Fighting Game!!!

K3NN3TH August 17, 2008

Worth every cent. Now this is how all other games should be. This game is going to keep you busy with all of the options and game modes. Great graphics and sound effects and looks great in 1080p.

Loads of fun...

GonzoX84 October 26, 2008

The fourth installment of Soul Calibur follows up with some of the best graphics and gameplay this series has to offer. Featuring cameo appearances by Star Wars icons Yoda and Darth Vader, and the newly introduced Secret Apprentice, the cast of fighters is only growing, and expanding on the fighting mechanics, making the gameplay only better. Although it is more of the same stuff as far as the fighting system goes, thats not to say it gets dull - if anything thats a good thing. For the veterans of the series, nothing new has to be learned, other than the new Soul Crush mechanic, which can lead to extravagent Finishers, making the game more friendly to attacking rather than just defending. The Star Wars fighters have the ability to use force powers, giving them an extra edge in combat, though that can run out quickly but still regenerates through the fight. Armor can now be destroyed, leaving more areas vulnerable during a match, allowing you to exploit the other other combatant. Character creation is almost more fun than actually playing the game, since you almost always want at least one fighter to call your own, though the fighting styles have to be based on one of the core fighters' styles - and sorry star wars fans, but you can't craft your own jedi - if you want a customized star wars character their appearance and names can't be changed, only their equipment. Music and Graphics are as superb as they always have been - only getting better with every passing year. Fighting modes extend to having a tower ascension and descension process, expanding on the gameplay some, but not much. Online fighting is made simple, but can sometimes be susceptible to lag or traffic. Downloading content only makes the game that much better. Aside from some adult themes, most gamers and parents will find the content quite agreeable, although some parts of certain story arcs can be a little bit outside of the grasp of younger players. However, learning how to play is not a challenge at all.

Great game, but not deep enough for casual gamers

Nyani August 10, 2008

Including this one, I own the latest three editions of this game. This edition has great graphics, great gameplay, and great replayability; if you play with other people. I worry about the person who buys this game to play only against the computer. The story mode is VERY short and the extra modes won't bring you back after you beat them. The game is only as deep as your opponents can handle. You need to play online or with other people to really enjoy this game long-term.
