Excellent quality beef. Very little fat. And I mean very little. Taste is well balanced with seasoning.i use it for so many things. Snack, fajitas and this time I used it in my chili. I just cut it up into small pieces so much better than using ground beef. More protein and little fat content and that means a lot to me. The convenience is also wonderful.
While the steak fajitas are fully cooked and can be eaten straight from the bag, I found the water content is really high and you definitely notice the moisture when biting into it cold. On the upside, when you heat it in the oven, it doesn't dry out. I heated 4 oz in a steam oven using the Bake Steam setting at 250°F for 10 minutes, and the result was excellent. It came out hot, juicy, and with a nice fire-grilled flavor. I also like that it does not have a lot of fat.
I always cook in a pan on the stove at about medium heat from the refrigerator, and add some of my own seasonings on them and let it brown on all sides. Taking those extra steps makes it taste really good. Only thing I don’t like is the small portion sizes. A 6oz would only feed one person depending on age and appetite.
The meat was tough on a burritos and fajitas. Some gristle too. I had to fix the problem. I decided to put the meat in my Hot Pot make a boil with water and seasoning. Package came already seasoned well but adding more water thinned out the seasoning it already had on it and now it is delicious and tender. Ready for burritos, fajitas or topped on rice with macaroni, spinach, sweet potatoes mixed with brown sugar.
Very good. Unfortunately, I'm not a red meat eater. Tried it out to see if I could work another form of high quality protein into my food program. Taste was great and I enjoyed it, but its still not ideal for my digestive system. I won't buy this product again for that reason, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves beef products. I think its a good quick fix option for steak. Thanks.
The bag says family size, well sure if you're a family of two only or only have a couple of chunks of meat per person only...There were only two semi long pieces of meat, the rest are just some various sized pieces.....I just wanted a quick snack so I didn't make fajita sides. The meat is salty, chewy and definitely needed to floss afterward... There's no char flavor at all, fajitas normally have a char- grilled flavor and no brown on the meat either until I put in the hot skillet for a bit....... I don't think I'll try it again, not worth the $14.95, I think I could've gotten a fajita plate at a restaurant with more meat for the same price plus sides..... here I was trying to save money by not eating out.
I thought purchasing the frozen precut strips would be better... but there were several strips that were hard, couldn't be chewed because it was rubbery, and just the day. This meat cost too much money to have inedible strips. The taste is good. Just disappointed that several strips I couldn't eat, 1 or 2 maybe although it should be none, but this pack had several.
For starters, calling 14oz of meat a “family pack” is WILD. But more importantly, this meat quite literally tastes like dog food. I took one bite and immediately spit it out. I don’t typically do reviews but I had to warn other potential buyers not to make the same mistake I did. 0/10
By the size of the bag, I figured there were be the same amount of meat as in the chicken, but WOW was I wrong. Okay, so steak costs more. BUT there is only one strip plus another piece that can't even be called 1/2 a strip. these should be sold in a sandwich bag. it's FAR too expensive for what you get, which isn't even enough for a decent sandwich.
The flavor of this product was non-descriptive and bland, almost like cardboard with some gristle. Fajita seasoning is MIA. The packaging touts "NEW LOOK." Well, John Soules Foods, I highly recommend you focus on the flavor instead. After not finishing my "fajita steak" quesadilla, I threw the rest of the package away.
