has done my horse very well!
: I started feeding FOCUS HF to help support my horse's hooves. He has the typical OTTB hooves that are brittle with minimal growth. The pellets are highly palatable for my picky eater, and I like knowing he's getting biotin and trace minerals to help promote hoof health. After adding this to his daily feed, I've noticed better consistency in his hooves and steady growth, and it's reassuring to have an easy, all-in-one option that supports him from the inside out.
About 2 years ago I realized my OTTB wasn't growing any foot (probably because he had been diagnosed with Chronic Lymes and we were treating him. He had grown plenty of foot the prior 4 yrs of owning him before his Lyme's diagnosis). So I started him on a major brand of hoof supplment my farrier recommended and gave it about 9 months. No change in hoof growth or quality. I changed hoof supplements to another major brand that ships monthly in convenient little tubs - gave it another several months- again, nothing. I read the reviews on FOCUS HF and have been feeding it about 7 months now and BINGO! The farrirer noticed the difference in his hoof quality and growth this last shoeingn and asked what supplement he was on. For us, this is the first thing that has seemed to work. But it could also be other factors like turnout time, daylight, seasonality, quality of hay, stress, mositure in mud/turnout and more. But for now I am pleased and will continue to supplement him with Focus HF.
My gelding has IR so it's always a challenge to find supplements that don't give him an adverse reaction. I was using 2 other products - one for the iodine and one for biotin - that were conveniently combined together in Focus HF. I've only used it for 3 months, but we have not had any foot soreness or other IR issues, and he readily eats the pellets, no problem.
After only six weeks of owning my QH gelding, the unspeakable happens. He gets injured. He ripped off over 1/3 of his right rear hoof. The vet advised that I put him down the night of the injury or wait a year or more to see if he recovers. After doing extensive research to find out what truly makes a hoof grow, I chose Focus HF as the supplement to use. In less than six months, I was riding the horse I was told to put down. My vet and farrier are amazed at his recovery and tell everybody about the supplement I used to get this hoof to grow. Thank you Source for creating such a wonder product that works!
This was recommended by Horse Journal. My problem WAS hoof quality not growth....solved the problems and is inexpensive with the added benefit of iodine. I had tried two others 1.hoof & 1. mineral w/o results
you can see the new growth. the healthy hoof coming thru... both my horses are OTTBs and came to me with horrible feet. Focus HF has helps both of them have solid, healthy hooves.
With only 10 mg of biotin, you are paying for the "Source" micronutrients. The product works well; and I am a fan of "Source"; but I have reached the point where I have to cut back since this particular horse has pretty good hooves. I will go back to it as needed.
My past success with Focus HF led me to order it for my new 6 year old Arabian mare. I know she will need to take it for about 6 months before we notice a significant change in her feet, but it was very effective several years ago for another horse. It needed to be introduced gradually to her sweet feed until she got used to the flavor, but now she eats it just fine. (This was also my previous experience.)
I have a 6 yr old mare that I purchased a year ago. By the time she was 5 she had 2 babies and my vet guessed that might be a factor in her poor hooves. They were brittle and constantly cracking. I added Focus HF (on the advice of my vet) and when my farrier was out a month later he asked what I had changed in her feed. He could see the healthier growth and knew something was different before I even had a chance to tell him! She will stay on this product as long as I own her!
