I've used this before for my 30 year old mare. Now I will be using for my other seniors
We have used this product for over 30 years and it has never failed us! I can't imagine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using Source since it first came on the market 30+ years ago. Shiny coat, stronger hooves, and a noticeable decrease in the amount of feed necessary to maintain a healthy weight were the results. Very palatable in powder or pellet form. I use the powder form and it lasts for about 5 months. Cost effective and a great addition to any horses diet, young or old!
I have always been pleased with my orders from Santa Cruz and this was no exception. I had need to call customer service to amend an order and they were so friendly and helpful.
Yes, I am happy with it. Have order the same thing but in Pellets. My horses eat pellets better than powder. They are eating the powder. My horses have very little grass in pasture. One started eating manure , wood, trees. Vet. told me to buy this. I did. Horse is OK. Like the second day of being on it he had stop doing that.
People have always commented on how shiny and healthy my horse looks. Every farrier I have had has commented on the growth and hardness of his hooves. He's never needed shoes. Of course, this could be a genetic trait but I think it comes down to a little of that, good hay, clean water, an appropriate amount of salt, regular deworming, and source. You gotta work from the inside out. Our soils are becoming more and more deficient in micronutrients which is why we must supplement in certain areas. I even carry this over to my own life and try to eat only organic foods which are better for the environment and my body. I try to get blood work done for my horse regularly and fill in gaps with more specific vitamins/minerals, like I do for myself, but in the interim I find this supplement seems to cover all the bases my horse needs. I've even used it on rescue horses in the past and they've all benefited from it. From OTTB's, quarter horses, Appaloosas, paints, and Arabs ranging from the ages of 4 to 30. Most got only that, not even needing a multivitamin. To top it off, this supplement is such a good deal. If you buy the cheap, small bucket, you get a 5 month supply and it doesn't need to be refrigerated. This is the one thing I've always recommended to first time horses owners. I'm glad my mom started me on this as a kid. I'll stick with this for any horses I own in the future.
Started my mini donkey on Source to make sure he gets vitamins and minerals; he eats grass hay, no grain. He came to me 2 months ago and needed a little extra attention. This seems to help him have some glow and better energy overall. He's starting to play!
I've heard so many good things about Source over the years. Figured it was so economical I would put my older gelding and my young mare on it. It's only been a month so far, so I haven't noticed anything huge yet but I feel it's very good for them based on other reviews and word of mouth. Also make sure you follow the directions and start off with a tiny bit per day and increase slowly up to the recommended daily dose! This was your horse will get used to the taste slowly and won't turn their noses up at it. I did that and I had no issues with them eating it. And my mare is extremely picky.
Everytime I took my horse off a skin supplement she would start breaking out in random skin gunk buildup. Source has cut the cost of those skin supplements by more than half and given BETTER results! The gunk went away within a month and her coat had become the beautiful, rich dark bay. I will continue to keep Source in my horses supplacement routine!
I started both my boys on this about 2 months ago. The look better than ever! I love having a natural source of minerals that they can digest. I'm I a seaweed extract and so is my dog. Best supplement to be on. I know they everyone is getting their electrolytes too. As a happy bonus, no more wood chewing. Even my chronic beaver stopped completely. No issues eating it in grain or tossed on top of hay.
