This was recommended by my naturopath, based on daily circumstances beyond my control. I can tell you after I take 1 or 2, I feel normal- not sedated or tired. Highly recommend for difficult times. And as always, Swanson prices and customer service are the best!

Tried melatonin and tryptophan and got some help falling asleep, then tried theanine and thought it was much better. When I went to re-order Swanson had Source Natural Theanine Serene suggested on the side. While the cost was more, the ingredient combination looked interesting. Two of these will allow you to fall asleep and wake up okay. The other supplements when two are taken the wake up and first hours are groggy.

I take one or two (depending on how active my mind is) in the evening an hour before retiring. Seems to make it much easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

I tried Theanine Serene to see if it would help me sleep a bit better and perhaps give me more of a sense of clam during the day. I was already taking St Johns Wort for a similar trial. Over 30 days I didn't feel any more sense of clam than I did with St. Johns Wort earlier. Perhaps I'm taking it wrong, I don't know. It may work for someone else hopefully.
