South Bend Square Shaped Crab Trap

We have been crabbing for years and years. I now take my grand children crabbing. I bought 8 of these traps on sale for $2.47 each. They are great! They were EASY to put together.......just follow the directions (which were easy to follow) and VOILA.......great traps that seem sturdy enough to use for years! The twine is a little flimsy, but did not have any problems crabbing with it.......will eventually have to replace it, but that should not be a problem since we bought extra twine anticipating that some time in the future we would need it. All in all......a very good product for a GREAT sale price!! And everyone was happy, we caught 46 crabs!! Previously we always used hand lines, this makes it so much easier since the crabs can not just fall back into the water before you net them! Oh, forgot to mention, we did add weights which we wired to the middle of the trap so the trap will go to the bottom faster.

it works and very easy to put together

Little lither weight then expected but should work,

sturdy and easy to use

I have been using these traps now for several years now. We are serious recreational crabbers. These traps have caught us many crabs. The factory string is not the best quality and I would recommend that you keep an eye on it and replace it when you see any wear or have a string that breaks. Local hardware store has plenty. If you are crabbing in deep water with current, I would suggest you wire a sinker or other item inside to weight down so it stays on the bottom. Over a very good trap and best price we have found locally.

Never used a trap before. this was a 1st, and cheap (price). I would enjoy getting at least 2 more. They are in fact too tall (odd shape) but still easy to use. Just take your time and build it, the string given is NOT too great. You may wanna replace them with regular string. I manage to catch over 20 crabs with these. most weren't keepers but still. These traps are very good, esp for the price :) NEG #2, it does NOT have a "hide your bait". you must be able to tie your chosen bait in it and let it just be free within it. Lost my bait once or twice but nothing to cry over. Though with both negatives (no hiding bait and sting issue).. it's well worth it. esp for first time users. Cant go wrong

verygood traps will use again and again

I have not used this crab pot yet but it looks very well put together %26 easy to use. So for now I will give it four stars.

Okay trap, we were able to use it. The 2 supports that hold the top of the cage seemed to be about 2 inches too long, which kept 2 of the trap doors from opening/closing. I think they gave me the wrong ones. I was able to fix with some pliers and bending after awhile. Otherwise, okay.

Not a good product, will require some improvements to make work. The tsunami also is foldable and worked better for me.
