Spalding NBA 54 In. Portable Basketball System Screw Jack Hoop with Polycarbonate Backboard

Had it for about a month seems very durable. Easy to change the height, and most of the nieghborhood kids come to shoot on it even though they have their own goals. My kids actually don't mind getting off there tablets and phones to go shoot hoops. It was a little hard to put it together.

My 14 year old son and I assembled the basketball hoop in about two hours. I had him do most of the work as I supervised and thought it was a good experience for him. I took the suggestion of a previous rater and removed all the hardware from its packaging, placed it on a piece of packing cardboard and labeled them. This took a little time but made the assembly process go smoother. My only complaint is that some of the steps are vague. Both the written instructions and diagram need to be studied thoroughly before you complete the step, and it doesn't help that the first step is the most complicated. It is also very important that the three sections of the pole are assembled correctly. If not, the unit will not work. Take a look at the picture of the finished product and it will help. All in all, with a little time and patience, you will be playing in no time on a high quality backboard.

Great system backboard is very sturdy. It is definitely a two man job assembling & lifting etc. It was put together in approximately 2 hours. Like other have said you'll need to pretty much bang the post together to get them to fit properly. It seems to better than the old Spaulding 54' portable system especially with the height adjustments turn crank. Be sure to add sand bags or something to add extra weight as water in the base isn't enough. We have mild weather and the old system fell over and bent the rim. Also, tries the gel it didn't work as well. Great exercise & family time!

Set up was not too difficult; took about 3 hours to set up; needs two people at times to help hold backboard when putting unit together; no parts were missing; has a good rebound; nice backboard; very solid; elongated 40 gallon tank makes the unit less likely to tip over if there would be a severe wind storm

This basketball hoop is good quality and was relatively simple to assemble. It appears like it will last several years and was a good investment. The main issue is that the item is pictured and is described as including a pole pad though it is not included. This needs to be corrected in the photo and description.

This portable backboard is of good quality, made of substantial materials. It assembled easily, mom and I worked on it together for the 13 yr old. Follow the instructions , it was easier than I thought it would be . We had fun putting it together, even more fun playing ball with it - I like the breakaway rim. :)

The only negative thing for this product, is the picture shows it coming with the padding for the bar, and it does not come with it. The pad was what kind of caught my eye to buy it, so I was disappointed when it did not come with the basketball net. I think this is bad customer service to show a picture of something for sale, and not get what your paying for in the picture.

Assembly instructions vague at best, leading to erroneous assembly of the pole. Only remedy is to order the 3 new pieces from Spalding ($75). They could easily put stickers on matching surfaces to make it easy. Hard to understand why not when all liability control stickers are there.

The hoop was very difficult to assemble. The pole comes in three separate sections and it was nearly impossible to fit them together. The hoop also did not come with the rim that was advertised in the picture also it did not come with the pole pad. I called spalding and they said this model does not come with a pole pad and that they have told walmart this but walmart continues to advertise it that way. Once together though my kids love it. Good price but lots of headaches.

We bought this for our kids for Christmas. Shipping was prompt. We had to wait for decent weather to put it together. I was working through all the steps. I was following all the instructions. I got the supports attached to the base only to notice that my base was cracked (before I even tightened the bolts on the support arms. The product says it has a five year warranty. You have to call Spaulding even though you bought it al. Wal-Mart. Upon calling Spaulding, they said they could replace the base ad a courtesy ONE time (that 5 year warranty may not mean much). They wanted the part number (which was located on the base). I gave it to them. I also mentioned that a couple of bolts may have been stripped when I was having to remove all the bolts I had already assembled. They wanted exact part numbers for each bolt (it comes with a pack of hardware screws/ bolts that they could have just replaced pretty cheaply. I told the rep that it would just be easier for me to go to the hardware store and replace the bolts I needed. We received the new base a few days later. It was the wrong one. Their customer service is only open M-F 8-5. I will have to call again and probably get to fight with them. Here it is, a month after Christmas and no basketball goal. Now I will have to wait until better weather (if they send me the correct base). I was going to wait to review the product. It may be nice after I get it up (if they send me the correct base). Luckily I am mechanically inclined and have the ability to engineer a base to cement in the ground if this doesn't work. In the meantime, my garage is cluttered with parts to a useless basketball goal. Beware if you need absolutely anything from Spaulding.
