Spalding the Beast 54 In. Glass Portable Basketball System Hoop

This thing was delivered in 3 massive boxes on a pallet, and stood in our garage for 3 weeks. Finally got around to building it yesterday. It took 7 hours, but the end results was beautiful. A super-wide plastic funnel for filling in sand would have been helpful to include in the kit, but we improvised with a plastic bottle.

I have had the 54” spalding beast for a few days and I can tell you that it’s great. I was impressed by how solid all of the parts were when I opened the box. You definitely need some help with assembling the pole, attaching it to the base, and attaching the backboard. The instructions were pretty clear. We have played on it several times and it is great! It is so easy to move around the driveway too. I added the pole pad and backboard pad that you see in the picture. It would have been nice if those had been included. I hope that it will last many years and that Spalding will be easy to work with if I should have a problem.

We’ve had this set up for about 2 weeks. Family, especially the boys are really enjoying it. Assembly wasn’t as difficult as I expected.

Spent the weekend putting it together with my son and grandson. Was not easy, but worth every minute. My grandson loves it!

I had no problem with assembling this. I received some help from my 14 year old son when it came to carrying the backboard. All that was needed was some basic tools and a sawhorse. There are some YouTube videos out there to help. Also remember the metal spacers are attached on the backboard side that the rim attaches to. Glass up... Not the back side. The hoop is so sturdy!!! Also the backboard is quite compared to the others. No a lot of vibration. This is the best portable hoop! I would recommend this.

The quality of the Beast is unsurpassed. It is the highest quality mobile hoop you can buy. We would not change our purchase and would buy it again! That all being said the assembly is a major undertaking. We had 3 fit adults take nearly 4 hours to assemble this Beast.... This part of the process could be much improved or have the option to have a qualified third-party come assemble for people. This is not for the faint of heart. The major assembly of the "spine" of the device took two adults lifting this 150 piece in the air and driving it into a piece of plywood on the drive way nearly 50x. This was a spectacle for the neighborhood as people drove by laughing. I have built 6 businesses and done 3 remodels. This was the hardest assembly of a purchased item hands down ever. Again the end product is worth it but all you have to do is go to YouTube to see people's great videos of putting this together which were very helpful and gave us confidence that we were doing it correctly. Good luck and make sure you have a great physical therapist to call afterwards :)

The "beast" hoop by spalding is a very sturdy hoop. The glass is so nice compared to acrylic which I didnt think it would. The rim is really nice and the handle moving system also works better than expected. Easy to follow instructions and put together. Too many people complained about assembly but with two able people (and four to put backboard on) was a breeze. Just follow the steps and all will come together nicely. Thanks Spalding, well done.

I got this for a present and it was very fun to play with. But it is very hard to pull it up and down

We bought this about a month ago, set up was easy and it’s a nice looking hoop. My boys used it a handful of times and the glass shattered on the backboard. We bought this because the add says it’s sturdy and can handle dunks and such, but obviously not. Hoping we have a warranty and can get a replacement.
