Special Kitty Clumping Clay Cat Litter, Fresh Scent, 45 lbs Box

this product used to be good. But, i suspect, recently, they have changed their formula. i had been using this product for at least 10 years. within the last few months, i believe they have changed the product. the amount of dust this product gives off into the air, is a lot. I know, that I can buy "Low dust" cat litter. But it is more expensive, and how can I even trust that any more? This product just creates, way too much dust.

I have reviewed this litter before with 5 stars. That has now completely changed. Walmart, why did you change the best litter ever? It is much larger pieces and creates a literal dust cloud. Horrible horrible dust! It is not clumping well either. This makes two boxes of the garbage and we will not buy it again. This truly was an amazing product at a great price. That is no longer true. Back to the brand name it is!

I have happily used this litter for years, but now I am being forced to change. They have changed the litter so it now resembles the non-clumping kind. The dust is absolutely horrible! Please wear a mask when scooping because inhaling that amount of dust is not healthy. I can only image how much dust my cats are breathing in as well. When I first noticed the change, I thought someone might have made a mistake in the packaging department, so I continued to use it, but the quality has not improved. I am changing today. Walmart, you should be ashamed for selling such an inferior product!

I’ve purchased this brand for years. The last two boxes I’ve bought have been terrible - so dusty - powder and dust goes everywhere!! It is nothing but dust!!! Did they change the formula?? What happened? I’m going to buy one more after I use the ones I have on hand and if it’s dusty like the last two I will be buying elsewhere. - The last two I bought are unacceptable.

This used to be really great but when they went to the 45 lb box in 2026 the quality went extremely downhill. The last two boxes I've gotten have been nothing but a Dusty mess. it will not clump anymore. there are better options for a similar price with a lot less mess

this is just a box full of rocks. the blue crystals are missing. there is much dust that both me and the cat sneezes. there is no scent to cover up odors. I am very disappointed in this 45 lb. box. I won't be purchasing this product again. shame on you for sending me this box of rocks that doesn't work.

I reviewed this item a few months ago raving on it and how it was comparable to arm and hammer but a fraction of the cost. The company changed the formula and this stuff is absolutely awful now. They give you 5lb more in the box, but you can’t breathe while scooping or pouring new in the box. And you also can’t see what you’re doing bc the dust is so bad. It’s more of a rock texture instead of the little ball texture it used to be. And it also doesn’t hold odors as well. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had to switch to a different brand after buying this one for years. Don’t waste your money.

I have used Special Kitty for many years. I've recommended it to other cat owners. When my neighbor watched my pets while I was on vacation (July 2025), she was so impressed with it that she switched. THE FORMULA HAS CHANGED!! The dust billows out as you fill the pan. The dust is EVERYWHERE and coats EVERYTHING nearby. It is super dusty to even scoop it. I've tried to be reasonable and thought maybe I just had a bad box. I have now had 3 boxes like this and cannot deal with it any longer. I blow my nose after working with this litter and have gray streaks coming out of my nose. If I'm like that, how are my cats? Not only has it become super dusty, but the texture has also changed. My cats aren't burying their business, so the smell isn't being covered. It's a pain to scoop properly because it either becomes concrete or falls apart. I tried contacting Walmart directly (corporate, not customer service) because you are now falsely advertising on the box and online. I have to switch brands until something changes or goes back to how it was previously. MANY LONG-TIME USERS ARE POSTING THE SAME COMPLAINTS!

Been using for years and they changed it. when you order the 40 pounds they send you the 45 pounds which is different. its all dust and clay, my cat wouldnt use it anymore. had to switch to arm and hammer double duty and she jumped right in. i tried ordering 3 times to get the 40 pound box i needed, finally i spoke with someone from Wal-Mart and was told they are doing away with the 40 pounds, so (the good one) do not order this. u will receive 45 pounds of dust and gravel your cat wont want to touch and can make them sick.

I have never been so disappointed by using any of the unbranded products through Walmarts I use Great value everything because to me it's the same I've been using special kitty cat litter for years And for the last four boxes I had thought two of the boxes were just a end of the barrel of the cat litter cuz it was so powdery and it barely clumped The third box should have learned three strikes in your out nope I went for a fourth time and so much dust that my mask turned gray I can only imagine what my cat's lungs look like right now and now I know why she's been coughing. it's so wrong to raise the prices and not get your money worth. so disappointed in what this world has become.
