As usual, my Speck case is everything I wanted and nothing I don't. Robust protection isn't compromised by the design at all, even though it's very slim and easily slips into my pocket. I've already dropped my phone several times with no I'll effects.
Bought a speck case for my son's pixel 4a phone. He bought the google case, and dropped his phone from about 3 feet and the google case bounced off and the phone's glass shattered, which he had replaced. He has since dropped his phone with the new speck case from a higher distance and it was just fine. We are very pleased!
My Presidio Speck case fits my phone perfectly, is a sturdy rubber material ( unlike my last Speck hard plastic case), and is navy blue in color. There were very few color options (black, navy, pink) with no design features. It does the job of protecting my phone which is primary.
While it's easy to dismiss this case a simply a rubber sleeve, this is the least complicated way to protect a phone - and it works well. The issue I have run into with hard plastic cases is that the retaining rail usually scratches up the finish of the phone on the edges. This case is easily slipped over the phone, and dispenses with the rubber flaps over ports that I have had to deal with in past cases. The main thing that stands out is that the case is very thin, with a slight addition of material in the corners. The camera lens is very close to the level of the case, but it does not contact surfaces when you lay the phone flat. The rubber material offers better grip than plastic, helping prevent the phone from slipping from your grip or slipping out of your pocket. Although the Pixel 4a is still new, I would recommend that Speck also produce a hard shell case (with rubber interior), as 100% rubber cases do not protect the phone from bending. There were enough bent up "banana phone" iPhone 6 handsets that proved people will put phones in their back pockets and then sit down. The bottom line - this case will protect you from falls about as much as any case, but it's still easy to slip into your pocket.
Awesome case. Minimal profile but still had great protection. Fits well in my pocket. Pretty smooth, but my previous cases were also smooth so I'm accustomed to the feel of it. It looks really cool too and complements the color and shape of the phone.
This is my third Speck case on my third Google phone and this one is my favorite. The entire shell is rigid plastic instead of previous models.that had a softer rubbery plastic around the edges that would always lose its shape and break after a year or two. Slim form factor with great protection. The only downside is the finish on the back is a weird matte finish that shows hand grease really quickly.
Fits perfectly, back fingerprint scanner lines up well. The case is sturdy and feels as though it would protect from a decent drop, I am satisfied in it's ability to protect. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is the buttons require decent effort to press while in the case (they already require some force outside of case so this may be the reason.
Good quality, durable case. Feels comfortable in your hand. Let's hope it does it's job in case I drop the phone. I have one complain though. You leave fingerprints and oily spots on the case. It's visible and does not look good. Other than that, no problem.
I would say I'm somewhat hard on phones. I tend to forget that I'm holding a delicate instrument, and I treat my phone more like a hunk of whatever. This case makes my phone feel more sturdy, and protects the vulnerable points; it has enough of a buffer around the screen to provide protection without inhibiting usage too much, and gives extra impact absorption (I think) around the corners. Because of the case bezel, the edges of the screen are somewhat difficult to reach now. The buttons are harder to press, but that's not necessarily bad. The headphone jack is greatly restricted, with only the slimmest plugs able to coexist with this case. Again, that's not necessarily bad. The opening around the USB-C port is wide enough to accommodate most charger plugs. Overall, I'm very happy with this case. It's both tough and flexible, and fits the phone very tightly.
I wrote this review once and Speck seems to have taken it down. BEWARE! This case is NOT like other Presidio cases. This is just a thin, completely flexible TPU case. It has none of the sturdiness I expect from Speck, especially for this price. Also the "soft touch" apparently means a satin finish which will slip right through your hands and pick up every fingerprint forever. Really unimpressed and I will be returning mine.
