awesome transmitter with a nice bonus

MPM January 16, 2026

This wonderful transmitter is the perfect first step into the computerized transmitter world. It has an easy-to-use interface, forward programming (its actually the only DX series transmitter that can program receivers, which is a nice bonus), and practically unlimited model memories. I love the grip on the sticks, just be careful how hard you press them! I enjoy taking this to the field, and know you will too.

Good purchase

Bob B. March 17, 2026

my son bought me an E Flite UMX A10 Thunderbolt for my birthday. I bought the DX6e since that was the recommended transmitter. After reading the instructions I got it to bind to the aircraft easily. everything works as it should. The price cut was appreciated also.

I loved the fact that the DX6e was cheaper at Walmart online than at the manufacturer!!!

Best Choice for Me !

Delaware C. August 7, 2019

I love this transmitter so much that I wish I could buy it all over again. Previously I had 2 DX6i's which only had a 10 model memory (why I needed 2). Now this radio has a 250 + model memory which is further expandable with an SD card. The programming is just as easy as the DX6i ... even easier with the ability to download specific airplanes from Horizon where all you have to do is name that plane. There is considerably more features than the older DX6i ... like 3 position switches and 2 ways to bind receivers. I decided to save the $50 and not get the voice alert/warnings yelling at me ... like the DX6. The warning beeps are fine. Should have called the DX6e the DX6q ( q for quiet ). All I can say is, this transmitter is as simple or complex as you want it to be. I learn new stuff about it all the time. I am 59 years old and was afraid of computer radios for the longest time ... until these guys. Now I'm even trying exponential. Maybe I'll figure out what differential is and how to to set up a flap-to-elevator curve mix... who knows ? It's all here if I want it. But I'm not forced to use it if I don't. Thank You Spektrum/Horizon

Huge value, you just don't know it....

So I bought this radio after reading extensive reviews for my needs. How many times have you gone to the flying field, and guys are just sitting around, because they forgot to charge their special radio batteries? Or better yet, they just died. This thing takes simple AA batteries. I bought two sets of the Spectrum brand NiMh batteries, and wow do they last forever. I fly warbirds, casual planes, helis, and drones. This controller does them all. Many times I go to the field and people think I have some expensive high end radio, to be able to do flap, dual rates, expo 3 position switch for the different flight modes and 3 rates, and throttle cut. I tell them I have the cheapest one basically and they are blown away. They all purchase the 8 channels and up, and none fly jets, and 90% percent of them only fly 3 channels planes. This controller also has a unique drone mode on the back, to hover drones, and to swap to UK mode (throttle on the right). Again a huge value.

Might want to look at a DX8e

Hobbiest G. November 2, 2019

The dx6e is a fantastically built remote coming from the best in the business. So build quality and systems setups are great. However, with a lot of these newer models a 8 channel is needed and I have a really hard time finding planes that run on only a 6 channel. For instance, I am wanting to get into edf’s but with all the features you need a 7+ channel remote. So it was my mistake on not looking ahead. Anyways it’s a great park flying radio but if you plan on going into warbirds or jets, look into the DX8e.

Good value for a solid radio but limited if you plan to fly more technical aircraft

Trukntigger July 28, 2020

It fit my needs, I'm a casual flyer, not into stunts or 3D just more scale flight. It is easy to use, smooth and with many profiles already to just download on a computer and then stick on a micro memory card and load into radio can not really get easier. Looking back, I was not sure if I'd enjoy this activity as much as I am now and did not want to spend more than needed. With 6 channels you can do pretty much MOST of what you need. Limits, you find out maybe I should have spend the bit extra for 8 channel. Why? Few things, say you want to have reverse like with a plane on floats, very hard to do with 6. Another, several planes needs 7 if you wanted to add flaps (Carbon Cub S series as example) and many EDF planes need 7 or 8 when add in things like landing gear retracts. As is tho I fly a UMX Turbo timber and a Maule M7 and this radio is perfect for both. So if you think you may need or plan to go with more features on a plane then I'd go 8 or more channel. If your doing general flying this is just fine. It has decent beep tones for things like timers and such. The display is good and I have poor vision and can read it. Not heavy and with decent NiMH AA rechargable batteries your in good shape (I bought a 8 pack of rechargable energizer 2300 mah, uses 4 at a time). I'd suggest getting a neck strap for this or any radio really. Will also want a mem card like digital cameras use, I got a simple Sandisk MicroSd 8gb with adapter for updating and plane profiles.

Super good it has its flaws

Miles January 18, 2021

I bought this transmitter so I could have all my planes on one transmitter. It has performed great and is easy to use but in cold weather the lcd display freezes and you can’t see anything on it. Not really a huge deal but something to watch out for if you live in a cold climate.
