Today I have the pleasure of reviewing the SportRack SR7035 XXL Roof-Mount. When I received this product my first thought was this is a fairly large item and will I be able to bring this inside? The SR7035 is very lightweight, just to give you an idea I am medium build and unfortunately, I do not have a lot of arm strength, however, I must say on my behalf, I am very determined. Thankfully, to my surprise it was very easy to pull and unload the package. This is a single lock mechanism and measures approximately 67"L x 34"W. The opening is approximately 19.5" - 20", large enough that you can slide in a foldable wagon, sports gear, stroller or camping equipment, just keep in mind your weight limitation. Along with your mounting nuts, U bolts and plates, you will receive a set of two keys. (I took pictures just to give you an idea) INSTALLATION Mounting will require at least two people but, I recommend 3, for conveniences. To begin I highly recommend reading and looking at the illustrations provided in your manual. Mounting the rack its self is very easy and takes about 30 minutes. First, you will want to adjust your crossbars as wide as possible while centering the rack with your vehicle. This will ensure proper support and balance. Next, once you have determined which holes you will use and installed your hardware, in order to prevent water damage, be sure that you cover the remaining holes with the vinyl covers provided. IMPORTANT NOTES! I believe I'm like the majority of people and value my vehicle, so please take note of the following: * YOU MUST AT ALL TIMES HAVE AT LEAST 50lbs INSIDE THE CARRIER! * THIS CARRIER IS DESIGNED TO BE USED WHEN YOU GO CAMPING OR MAYBE SPORTS. * TO PREVENT ROOF DAMAGE DO NOT OVERLOAD. * YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE FOR WASHING AND I RECOMMEND ADJUST YOUR SPEED FOR SAFETY. FINAL THOUGHTS The SportRack SR7035 XXL is perfect for an active family or individual(s) wanting to free up space in the trunk or lift up that third row again.

When this was first removed from packaging and getting ready to be set up, I thought for sure that this was not going to be a very good carrier. It seemed too light weight and somewhat flimsy. After mounting it to a vehicle and putting items into it to see that it is more than adequate in available space, it was locked up and then I realized that it is also more than adequate in strength as well. I would suggest to not have it on your vehicle when empty for the bottom seems to fluxuate, makes strange "popping" sounds and wants to move in the wind. This does not come with any cross-bars to mount it to, which have to be present to mount this atop any vehicle. I placed it onto a friends vehicle with ski-racks on it and it mouinted easily and was very sturdy. I have added a couple of pictures with it sitting on top of my smaller Jeep Libety to show that it will fit well on smaller vehicles. If you have a larger vehicle, you will have no trouble with it fitting and it is hard to fill the 20 cu. foot size that is shown. I am off next to buy some cross mounts and use it on a trip planned for a weekend this summer, but already know that it will work great and free up all kinds of space inside of the vehicle.

The SportRack SR7035 Getaway XXL Roof-Mount Cargo Box is exactly what we have been looking for. Having a recent addition to our family means that we must use the 3rd row in our SUV and then have no trunk space. We decided recently that we have no choice but to get a van because we just cannot travel with such limited space. This was devastating to me because I love my SUV and am not ready to move on to another vehicle. We decided to give a cargo box a try instead but struggled with which option to choose. This one was a perfect fit for our 2015 Kia Sorento and is more than sizable enough for our family of 5. Weekend trips are how we travel most often and we can fit all of our luggage and baby gear in the box without issue. It is easy to attach and feels secure so I feel safe driving with it attached. The box is durable but it is plastic of course so I wouldn't recommend any heavy misuse of it. You'll want 2 people to be able to load it onto your vehicle, although one can attach it easily enough. It isn't that heavy but large so one person would probably struggle to move it on their own. There are also additional pieces included covering any openings that you are not using, helping to ensure that no water gets inside. Overall it is a 5 out of 5 - Easy to use Weatherproof Plenty large enough for family travel Secure and stable Locks for security Even when you don't have it attached and are storing it, double the purpose and store things inside as well. The SportRack SR7035 Getaway XXL Roof-Mount Cargo Box is a life saver in a world of ever shrinking automobiles and an ever expanding list of “must haves” when traveling with a family or friends. The construction and hardware seem to be first rate. Although light in weigh, for it’s size, this Roof-Mount Cargo Box is rigid and easy to install with two people. The weight of the unit is 35 lbs. One person alone could possibly install the box, but it would be cumbersome. This cargo box has a great deal of space. It is a little over 3.5 feet long and just under 3 feet wide, with an almost 21 inch height at center. The box is rated at 20 cubic feet of space and up to 100 lbs of loaded cargo. I like the fact that this cargo box comes with a lock for security. The unit opens from the rear and makes access very easy. As long as your automobile has a crossbar system for your luggage rack, this comes with everything you need to mount the cargo box. The unit looked very sporty after mounting. The UV resistant material the box is made of has a nice look to it. I would recommend the SportRack SR7035 Getaway XXL Roof-Mount Cargo Box to anyone traveling with a family or friends and needs a good bit more cargo space.

Roof rack cross rails should be extended to nearly their furthest range possible while making sure your rear hatch still can fully open. We mounted it on a Dodge Journey – and – as pictured – looked great – was very secure – and almost doubled our storage space in the vehicle! I fit 1 xl suitcase, 1 large suitcase, 1 medium carry-on bag, and 1 small bag inside – see pictures! After mounted, the Cargo box is accessed from the rear of your vehicle or sides due to the hinges in front and will stay partially open due to the convenient lid lifters pre-installed on both sides near the front interior that also offer an assistance lift feature. Security of your cargo is also nicely addressed with a lock on the driver side of the SportRack SR7035 Getaway XXL Cargo Box to secure all your precious cargo. It also comes with a limited lifetime warranty to protect your investment for years to come!! Realistically – expect to be able to fit anywhere from 2-4 carryon sized luggage bags/suitcases into this roof mounted cargo carrier – so long as you keep the weight limit in mind. Expect some additional wind noise/resistance when driving – and the handling feel of your vehicle will change based upon the change in the center of gravity caused by this cargo box and whatever you haul inside it. Please make sure you securely place bags/items inside the cargo carrier so they don’t move during travel. Also – be sure of your vehicle height with the SportRack SR7035 attached so you don’t try going thru a short drive-thru or low overhead bridge that you won’t fit under!! we recently utilized the SportRack SR7035 Getaway XXL Roof-Mount Cargo Box on a 6 hour trip (12 hours round-trip) to WNY. it rained most of the way there - and the cargo box was weathertight!! just make sure to cover your unused mounting holes with the included stickers! saved us a lot of space in the Dodge Journey for our dog (Sydney Sue) to be comfortable during the trip in back!

First I will say that I spent days looking for the right cargo box. My wife has a 2020 Honda pilot with factory installed side rails and crossbars. The crossbars are fixed and spaced at 29". I almost bought the 18 cubic one from Amazon and the reviews helped me determine that I needed to go with a bigger size. My instincts was right and I'm glad I bought this one. I didn't have to drill any holes, it was a perfect fit. Took it for a test drive and it was very quiet, going at about 60. Haven't taken it out on the highway but I'm sure that it will ride the same. I hope this review helps someone out.

This is a rather large car top carrier, great for a full sized SUV. It is light weight and manageable by one person if in a pinch. It has “placement” holes on the bottom. If you want it to be “water resistant” the holes not used will need to be sealed. It comes with little patch decals for this but they come off very quickly. You might want to use something a little more permanent. Overall a good buy.

We enjoy the usefulness of the 20 cu ft SportRack SR7035 Getaway XXL Roof-Mount Cargo Box. It has plenty of room for the items we can’t fit inside the vehicle. This carrier is very easy to access and open. The carrier has a nice lift system to help lift the lid. We really enjoy the amount of room it has. When we first opened up the box and unpacked the carrier, we wondered about the construction. The walls of the carrier seemed thin and flimsy. After setting it up it seemed to hold up very well. The setup is very easy if you have the proper rack system on your vehicle. Just four U-bolts and eight plastic wing nuts and it is on the vehicle. I would assume that removal from the vehicle will be just as easy. I also like that it does have a lock on the back side of the carrier. You get two keys for the lock. I don’t know if the lock is really that good of a lock. The keys feel flimsy. I worry about breaking the keys, but you have two keys just in case one breaks. Overall I think it will give us a few years of good use.

I received the SportRack SR7035 Getaway XXL Roof-Mount Cargo Box, 20 cu ft, Black about a week ago and boy did it come right in time. School just ended and we had already planned a little weekend trip with the kids to reward them for their good grades. The only reason I am only giving the SportRack four stars is because it was such a pain to put on my vehicle. My husband and I are pretty handy but we spent the better part of an afternoon attaching it to the top of my vehicle. I guess I would have prefered a little more detail in the one page instructions. But once it was up. Oh, did it hold so much. Now it was only a weekend trip but there are five of us and for two and a half days we sure did pack a lot. Having the SportsRack was a blessing. We really didn't want any luggage in the inside of the car so the kids wouldn't feel all crammed in the car since this was our very first road trip with the kids. We also had the cooler in the back so we didnt have to stop for drinks or snacks. Amazingly, two medium size luggages and three child size character rolling luggages fit inside the extra, extra large cargo box. Luckily we also remembered to bring a small step ladder so we could get our luggages in and out of the cargo box. I do believe taller people or ones who have shorter vehicles won't have a problem with its largeness but I have a large crossover vehicle and I am only a little over five feet tall so things of any height are a struggle for me. After our trip we were easily able to unmount the SportRack and store it in our garage in the large overhead storage. All in all I am quite happy with the SportRackGetaway XXL Roof-Mount Cargo Box and can confidently say we will be enjoying this item for many years to come.
