This kit offers incredible value. It’s an inexpensive way to have a "revolving door" of fresh, micro-organic greens right in the kitchen. It’s perfect for health-conscious individuals or as a fun, educational project for kids.
I started micro-mung bean greens. No soil is needed, but your own seeds are needed because there are no seeds provided in the mirco-green growing kit. There are labeling stickers that have labeling lines for the date micro-greens are started and the type of seed in each layer of the trays.
The Highlights:
-User-Friendly Design: One of the best features is the numbered trays, which help you keep track of your planting rotation. It also includes labels and a black "shading" bag to provide the darkness many seeds need during the initial germination phase. That same bag can be used for storage when the kit is not in use. It took literally less than a minute to set up on my counter.
-Vertical Efficiency: The 4-tier stackable system is a huge space-saver. You can grow sprouts (like alfalfa, mung beans, and wheatgrass) simultaneously in a very small countertop footprint. I will put it in a corner of my kitchen that is not disturbed but easy to get to and see.
-Low Maintenance: Since it is soil-free, you don't have to worry about dirt in your kitchen. The drainage system is designed to prevent overwatering, but the system will keep the seeds moist because the bottom is a reservoir where the water sits and evaporates up to the seeds.
-Transparency: The clear shells allow you to watch the roots and sprouts develop, which is both satisfying and helpful for knowing exactly when to harvest (usually within 5–7 days).
Considerations
-Material: It is made of BPA-free plastic. Its going to be easy to clean with mild dish soap and warm water.
