just what I needed in the color I needed it in
This is a nice substantial chain to use when I want to keep my horse in his stall without closing his door to the outside world. The green color is not a dark green but it is a nice color. The chain is just what I wanted!
I only purchased this stall guard after having purchased the kensington stall guard. My horse chewed the kensington to pieces and the metal rings broke within 30 days. He doesn't touch this stall guard. It's not as aesthetically pleasing, but it does the job. I'm very happy with the quality and value for my money. I would recommend this product over other stall guards.
This stall chain is exactly as advertised and seems like it will hold up well. Does not come with clips, but I was aware of that when I purchased it so was not an issue. So far I've only used it at one horse show to hang blankets but it worked perfectly!
We were completely satisfied with these 'butt' chains. They're strong, covered with rubber which hose that is fixed to stay in place. Each end has 4 extra links of chain to adjust to the width of the stall. We also bought brass double ended snaps that hook to eye screws we attached on the end of the partitions. We can switch them to either side. The snaps are heavy and well made. We're very satisfied.
I'm very happy with this product. Works great for horses that want to be in stall. I have one however, that slips right under even though it is hung where his neck meets his chest. He doesn't prefer being stall kept but senior horse loves new stall & he doesn't challenge or slip under chain. Did have hardware break but chain did not. Yes, you need to buy the hardware but very simple install. I'd recommend at least two chains for ones that'd rather be out instead of stalled and make certain you're prepared for if they do slip under or break through & get out. Mine are installed on the paddock doors so worst case is they are in pasture not loose on property or in barn. I chose chains because I have sliding paddock doors not Dutch doors and wanted more airflow & give horses a view out. These work great for that.
These stall chains are great. They are inexpensive, but are strong enough to hold up to my gelding when he decides to lean. I have several: one for his stall at home, one for the trailer, and take three to shows (I use the spares to hang on the front of his stall and dry sweaty saddle pads and wet boots). Do yourself a favor and buy several of these (and some double-ended snaps while you are at it, as they don't come with them).
I bought these for my mare and she absolutely loves being able to stick her head out! Never challenges the chains! :-)
Instead of using it for a normal stall chain, I bought it to keep the blankets on my horse's stall door. It add more flexibility with how many blankets/different weights I can keep on the door.
As a 3 year old horse, my horse likes to play with everything and "taste" everything. I previously had a cotton stall guard which he chewed through in 1 day. He has yet to touch the stall chain!
