I used to do floor Pilates and never thought it was fun. However, now that I have my own Pilates machine, I find myself drawn to using it nearly daily. I feel good after exercising with it and it never gets boring. My body is really changing and getting stronger. As far as set up goes, my DH and I worked together for about an hour and a half to put the machine together. It wasn't difficult, but it was time consuming.
I bought a smaller version first, but exchanged it for the Aeropilates reformer pro xp 556 for two reasons. 1) the first was too short (I'm 5' 10") and 2) the folding version has a bump in the rails the carriage rides on because it folds. Exchanged it with no problems. Got my new reformer and I'm sooooo pleased. I work out on it every evening before going to bed. It is so relaxing, so challenging and so effective!!! I'm 54 and suffer with back issues and arthritis. My regular workouts are helping relieve the arthritis pain (that's the reason I do it before bedtime) and strengthening my core muscles to help with back issues. I see this as an investment because it is an exercise routine made to age with. The quality is amazing. The carriage is very smooth, the frame is super sturdy and it's very versatile allowing a large number of exercises you can perform. I am planning on buying the box and pole that go with it to work more on my low back. If you buy it and use it, I think you will love your reformer too!!!
I love this machine. I have low back pain but still want to workout. This has been the answer to that problem. I first ordered the smaller unit, but returned it because it was too short and had a bump in the rails where it folds. This machine is super smooth and is plenty long enough for me (I'm 5'10").
I bought this reformer after doing some extensive research on affordable home machines. It has all of the features I needed and it is easy to change exercises between the bouncer, bar. and the straps. The straps are nice and comfortable. I like the head rest which has 3 positions. I was skeptical about a machine that uses cords instead of springs, but there is sufficient tension to get a good workout. In fact, I have yet to use all 4 cords at once as 3 are enough for my most difficult leg workouts. Having used the machine for one month, I can already see the difference and I feel great. This is a machine that you can use everyday as you do not get the same level of soreness as with other types of gym equipment. Best present to myself!
This is my favorite piece of exercise equipment! It requires two people to set up but is relatively easy and quick to assemble. I am 47 and fairly fit. I have weak upper back muscles and have found this to be a wonderful way to exercise those hard to reach muscles. I have exercised muscles that I didn't know existed and were in desperate need of exercise! I feel that this was a good investment for equipment that I can use for the rest of my life! I'm so glad I decided on this purchase!
I bought this to address a health issue and so that I could practise Pilates more than once a week. So far, so good and I feel much more inclined to work out when there's no travel involved (climbing into a car seat exacerbates my hip problem!) I now use it every day and I am looking to move up a level on workouts. The added bonus is that my teenage daughters have started to use it to complement their sporting activities.
I bought my XP556 about a month ago to replace a 3-cord AP machine that I had used until I practically wore it out. While I enjoyed my first machine, the XP556 is magnificent! It is so smooth and quiet even when I use the reformer attachment. It is well built and attractive, so I leave it in place in my study. I absolutely love to do my daily work-outs using the XP556.
First and foremost, this is the best machine for the money. The only recommendation would be for a better pulley system. My SO is 6'4” and I'm 5'6” and there's a lot of manual adjusting that takes time. Other than that, zero complaints. This is our second Stamina pilates product and we will definitely stay with Stamina products. High quality and great customer support. Our pulley rope was cut during transport and we received a new rope within a week.
My equipment came and one of the factory screws were not tightened. Luckily my husband noticed and could fix it. The machine otherwise was fine with the exception that one pulley does move smoothly. It could just need some time to loosen but I'm not sure.
I go to Pilates 5-6 days a week at a studio but wanted to get my own Pilates machine for the days I am unable to go because I love it so much. I did review a lot of machines and thought I should invest in a more expensive one that would be closer to a studio machine. This machine would be fine for someone just starting out or who has never used a commercial machine but to me, it is far inferior and hard to adjust to. It does not glide as smooth, the handles are hardly adjustable, the rebounder is very small, and the footbar rattles and doesn't stay firm in its position. It also has a really bad chemical smell after about 4 - 6 weeks...
