Standlee Alfalfa Timothy cubes were recommended by our vet for our newly adopted 30+ year old Belgian mare, Eve. Pulled straight from auction, Eve needed to gain weight and muscle, as well as improve her topline, but we discovered she only has about 4 teeth left! These cubes have allowed Eve to get the forage she needs and have transformed her into the healthiest looking old lady I've ever seen! We're so thankful for our vet and our hay cubes from Standlee.
My older horse had fecal water and he lost a good amount of weight last winter. The vet recommended Timothy alfalfa pellets. I started adding three pounds of soaked pellets a day to his feed and I'm very happy with his progress! It's economical and he's looking great again. And no more gross fecal water.
My 30 year old QH mare is a picky eater. She enjoys Standlee beet pulp pellets, mixed with rice bran, which I feed to keep the weight on. The Standlee pellets are excellent in quality and easy to scoop up. When the offer came for the trial month on forage products, I thought I'd give it a try. On day two, she was nickering for more! She has two big bowls (bran and timothy/ alfalfa mix, both softened with water, in addition to pasture, hay and senior feed daily. She eats like a horse! My farrier said it's a good sign when palominos get dapples; that they are getting good nutrition. She certainly has both!
I bought these for my neglected and underfed rescue horse a month ago and he LOVES them. They're a wonderful addition to his soaked grain and I can already see a vast improvement in his condition.
I wasn't sure how this would work. I was surprised at what my horse lost on the recommended feeding program. I am happy to say he lost 75 lbs. I'd like to have him drop another 75 to get him at the weight he needs to be at. He just had his annual today and his vet was very happy. The pictures aren't the best but he definitely trimmed down
I find this product very usable when you soak the cubes they break down very well and don't leave hard cubes with horses are not able to chew since we do use these for our seniors over 25 years old who have worn teeth due to age it helps me maintain the weight very satisfied with this product
I started my 24 old gelding on this a month ago to potentially replace any nutrition he was missing from his coastal hay due to his back teeth starting to flatten out. I replaced 5/15 pounds of his hay with soaked Standlee's Alfalfa Timothy Pellets. He seemed to fill out and become shinier! Thank you Standlee, for keeping in mind the senior horses!
These were a convenient and quick way to feed in the brutal winter we had. Most of the animals loved them, only a few picky ones did not eat them, but enjoyed chewing them up and destroying them.
I gave this a 4 because I had to work so hard in soaking the cubes for my 31 year old rescued mustang Tonka who has nubs for teeth. Tonka would give them a 5. The next 3 bags will be pellets which I am sure will be easier to soak. Tonka was so very happy to have forage he could actually eat and not chew and chew and then spit out like tobacco. Thank you Standlee for the challenge!
I started using this a month ago and my horse seems to really enjoy it and it's helped her put back on weight after winter really nicely. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because there hasn't been a single bag I've gotten that didn't have pieces of debris (blue plastic tarp like stuff) in at least one or two cubes.
