I didn't rate the battery life as I've not had it long, BUT it is really heavy and durable. It charged up quickly, has a light attached if using in the dark. My son LOVES it! He wants to switch mine for his EverReady (but it AIN'T gonna happen!) The cable cords are a decent length. Only downfall is that It didn't include an adapter which is not problem as I've ordered one. I'm pretty happy with it!
This replaced a no-name similar product. It lasted a few years and the battery died. The batteries cost almost as much if not more than the product so keep that in mind. The Stanley version is significantly better than my old one (mostly). The old one had 2 cig adapter plugins. This one only has one. The Stanley has a USB port to charge cell phones, phones and tablets. So that is a step up. The little LED light is not much but really it is better than my old one because at least you can AIM this one. Plus the old no-name was incandescent. The main thing I like about this one is the simple ON/OFF switch to use the battery jump start feature. My old one had a couple of momentary buttons to push to get it to work (sometimes). This Stanley has already had to jump a car which it did with no problem. I use this also as emergency backup power. When severe storms are nearby this makes a great source of power to run our 12V TV from so we can watch the radar while we are in hiding. So far this is a great product. Hope the battery lasts! :)
While there are might better battery jumpers on the market ... If your major need is for an easy to carry, easy to use and easy to charge jumper ... I don't believe you can beat this model for the price.. You can probably jump start at least2 (maybe 3) regular automobiles off a unit that was charged less than a week ago. And I had no problem jumping a car after my unit had been left sitting for slightly more than a month, after its last full charge. One notice about following the instructions! You do need to have the receiving vehicle set to Park. But some instructions might make it sound like you also need to set the PARKING BRAKE. Don't do that. Having the PARKING BRAKE On may cause the Receiving Vehicle to believe someone is attempting to HOT WIRE It. It will honk for help and refuse to start.
Came fully assembled. Charged it up with standard extension cord, plugged into the wall. Took 1 hr 15 minutes to fully charge. My Van battery showed no voltage. Hooked it up Red to red (Positive) , Black to black, (Negative) waited 30 seconds and switched on ignition....started up like a new battery. All that Plus USB ports and 12 volt car lighter plug for all your gizmo's and a 150 PSI compressor, (for those low air\flat tires. It will fill 3 tires before you need a charge. Absolutely blows away those pocket portables...and no air for your tires?
I had researched everywhere trying to locate information on the internal battery. I found once place that indicated the internal battery was 22 AH. That sold me on buying the unit. Well I wanted to know what size battery was actually inside. It comes with a SEL CB19-12, 12V 19AH internal battery. That is still a good size battery. I found a site that claims the replacement is a 22AH battery. I wanted this jump charger without the compressor. I wanted it for power usage only for charging my music devices and running portable devices while camping and during power outages in the home. I yet to really use it, but I feel it will handle my demands in the field. Charging with the 12VDC cords is not to charge over 5 hours, it’s not automatic, the AC charger is only 500mAh so will take longer to fully charge it. When first get the unit it showed fully charged, but they want you to charge it for 24 hours, no problem… I like the size and the light on the side is okay, just more a gimmick, I guess if your hands were busy filling a tier it could be handy… Oh the USB port is ran by a switch and is only 5VDC - 500mAh. The 12VDC cigarette outlet is rated for only 5AMPS and isn’t switched; I wish it was rated for 15AMPS… I wish companies would offer more details to electronics. I hope I was helpful to those that like specs.
i have an old chevy with a dead battery that i just start up to keep the oil stirred and this has started it at least 11 times and still had juice in it! good handy tool.
Walmart had stated this was a Lithium-Ion in its details but, it is actually a lead battery. The difference between the 2 is how long the jump starter can sit and still be able to jump start a vehicle. A lead battery has to be re-charged every 1-2 months as it loses jump starting power over time. A lithium-ion battery can sit for a year and still have almost a full charge to jump start a battery. Although I was disappointed about this, it is still a nice battery. The directions claim that you can leave it plugged into a drop cord that is plugged to an electrical outlet and it will not over-charge the battery and will be ready to jump start a vehicle when you need it.
This thing is handier than I thought that it would be. I don't think that it will start an engine with a dead battery, but for a weak one, it kicks it off well. Warning: It will not tolerate much rain. Keep it under shelter if there is a chance of rain. I now have two of them after the first got a little damp and started giving problems (light wouldn't turn off).
When I got it I charged it up as the directions specified. Our farmall tractor had a dead battery. Tried to use the jump starter and it turned it over for about 4 seconds then died . Did not have enough power to continue. Use my truck to jump start the tractor
After reading the instructions for the starter, I charged it for 24 hours immediately upon getting it. It did take the charge, but did not hold it. I tried again a couple times, with the same result. I've returned it and will be purchasing a different brand.
