My favorite tool
I am reviewing an antique Stanley number 65 low angle block plane with the knuckle lever cap and adjustable throat, made around the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, that can use this 1 5/8” iron. I bought this plane about 40 years ago at an antique store in Camden, Maine. It is my favorite tool that I've ever owned, I've regularly used it on the job ever since, and I would never part with it. This is widely regarded as perhaps the finest tool Stanley ever made, and I totally agree. It is a classic that sets the standard for every plane that has followed.
