[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great tool profile allows for easy storage and with replaceable file this tool will be around a long time. the value of this tool is hard to state but after you have tossed out a couple worn down rasps you will understand.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This file gave me a sturdy handle on top and ample space to apply pressure with my palm on the end. Hard, sharp file should serve me for many years. Haven't had any trouble or noticeable dulling after four projects I've used this on.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Helps me rough out areas quickly and easily without taking off too much material at once. Great control. It's easy enough to change out the blades and has replaced a few other rasps and tools I used to use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this product for about 2 weeks now. Its used multiple times per week in my household. It comes in very handy for different projects. It's really good for filing down sharp edges on metal or plastic pipes, its also works well on wood, to help shape and make edges smooth on different materials.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My first time using the Surform saved me a lot of work. As soon as it got delivered, I was ready to file the surface of the countertop. The tool is certainly aggressive. It takes off a good amount of shavings from the surface. So you have to be careful of the amount of pressure you apply to it. Using sandpaper after using Surform will clean the surface well. But it definitely was a life savior for doing what I needed to do. One thing I am concerned about was the end where the blade is attached and the way the screw goes in. I think time and the frequency of usage will determine that, otherwise it's a great tool.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This file is the perfect size for rough finishing wood and has a convenient and easily changeable blade. The non-slip handle provides a secure grip and the front push-pad allows for control during strokes.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the day I received the Surform Flat File, I was able to remove large amounts of solid wood and rough shape anything I needed. The file was easy to use. This is the first file of this type I have owned but I will let you know that I was impressed by it. The replaceable file teeth is an easy thing to remove and comes apart and is put back together quite quickly.
I use my Surform shavers for farrier work and it is very good for taking down hoof wall. It removes more material quicker than a standard file and is lighter weight making it less fatiguing to use. It often works so well if not much removal is needed. It eliminates the need for nippers which are less accurate and put a lot of squeezing pressure on the hoof wall promoting cracks. I also use the small hand shaver for rounding off, it is such an effort saver! I have not (yet) had a problem with blade breakage and I have been using the same blade for a year. I do wear heavy leather gloves though always, these blades are sharp. one thing I do NOT like is the jagged edge on one side of the blade that often tends to stick out over the edge of the plastic. Very dangerous! I try to make sure the blade is shifted over enough so it doesnt stick out, but they should not be made this way and should be smooth on both sides!
Using to round and smooth carved rocking horse. It was going well - easy to handle and effective to remove material until the blade broke where the tightening screws is Blade is basically new. Good tool I have other sureforms that working up to now.
After about 10 passes with the original blade the blade clasp broke off the blade. I had bought a replacement blade and I inserted the replacement blade and it broke the exact same way after about 30 passes. I am happy with how it performs before the blades broke. Very unhappy with the low quality blade clasp. Is there a better blade coming out?
