This is a pretty nice chisel. I like the way It folds up. I can put it in my pocket, ot in my tool box without the risk of cutting myself or damaging anything with a razor sharp chisel. It came with a working edge, but it took a razors edge pretty easily.
Way more convenient than carrying around a through-tang chisel. I'm a locksmith, and I was so tired of carrying around a full chisel all the time in case I had to reprep doors. With the folding design, I'll have no more holes in my tool bags, my other tools won't get cut up, and the blade won't get dulled by my other tools while in the back of my service truck. The design of the handle is very secure. Energy transfers well to the blade, and the control is good. Blade holds an edge pretty well; haven't had to sharpen it despite putting it through its paces. Am hoping that they release more of these with different blade widths, as the 25mm is a tad wide for some applications. Very happy with this purchase, and will by buying more soon for my co-workers. This is a really clever design for an all-purpose chisel. The handle folds up to enclose the blade, so that you can put it in a tool belt, apron or pocket without having to worry about cutting yourself or your clothes. Yet when you need to use it, you just flip it open and it's ready to go for both delicate work or heavy whomping. The secret is in the very cleverly designed handle, which is both convenient and can take a heavy pounding. Highly Recommended. If you have a use for this you can't go wrong. It's a very impressive chisel.
Freaking great! I'm not a finish carpenter... don't get me wrong - this is not your fine detail work kinda tool... BUT, for framing etc. I always carry a beater 1" or 1¼ chisel for all the normal reasons... Having it fold keeps it from cutting up the bottom of my belt bags.... love it... I'm usually knocking it with a framing hammer... a few weeks in and love it.
This is a decent item, but need sharpening right out of the package. Other than that, it's a pretty good tool to have in your bag.
A year ago, I needed something that could adapt to different kinds of hardy tasks and jobs. While Stanley utility knives are nice for "taking care of things", sometimes you need to deliver cutting-force with control and confidence. A traditional chisel makes quick work of rough-fitting, and solving small problems, but it will chew through your pockets. The folding chisel is Stanley's elegant solution to this unending dilemma of "convenience versus safe". The strike-faced folding handles hide the business end snugly, and lock open firmly when it's time to bring out the hammer. Whether it's paring away at a mortise and tenon joint, or biting through an old cable tie, this compact problem solver simply works. Like I've said, it's been at my side for a year, and it will always share space with my other must-have tools. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
