Stanley Products #4 BENCH PLANE 2" X 9-3/ - 1 EA (680-12-904)

I have a couple older examples of this plane and have them set up for different things. Smoothing, flattening, hogging a bit of I don't want to grab a larger one. My young son (8) also finds this a handy size. About as big as he can manage at this stage in his life.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You can tell as soon as you hold this item that it's another great Stanley product. The blade allows for smooth & precise cuts. The only change I would like is a larger opening for your hand. I have large hands & it's a little tight but still works great. This will be another Stanley product that will last for many years.

It's very heavy which is what you want with a plane bench. The handles are ergonomic and feel very nice in your hands. The adjustments are very easy and standard. This bench plane is essential to anyone you does custom furniture and cabinetry work.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Size is very useful, especially for work outside the shop. Needs a bit of extra tuning out of the box - the sole was a little rough for my taste - but on the whole it's extremely well made. Very happy with this plane.

I bought the Bailey Stanley plane over 10 years ago and have used is and have used it on so many projects. The plane works like new and has never failed me the blade stays sharp and is easy to sharpen, overall it it is an excellent product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have this plane for sometime now and I find it very easy to use and dependable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not a professional, but this seems to be a good tool to me. You will have to make adjustments out of the box, but the enclosed instructions are easy to follow and the adjustments are fairly easy. With a little time tuning, you will be pleased with the results. I would prefer wooden handles like on my dad's old tools, but these plastic handles seem sturdy and should hold up just fine. I consider this tool to be slightly on the heavy side, but I feel that this reflects quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Out of the box, I was able to produce decent shavings and a smooth cut, though I wasn't able to get consistent whisper-thin shavings. The sole is slightly concave front to back and side to side and will eventually benefit from flattening. I haven't disassembled to check all components yet, but it is definitely useable as is. It seems like a great utility tool that is well suited to planing doors and other rough work, and with some work it could be tuned to a fine woodworking tool.

The product came broken at the mouth area when I opened the box. Returned it and didnt bother re-ordering again.
