while it does reduce light output as stated, the metal mesh absorbs the light and converts the light into heat, yes it gets hot but that heat dissapats acting like a small convection space heater which is nice in cold weather.

Excellent product for it's purpose, rigid yet will conform to fit. Reasonable price, very pleased that this option exists.

I have several lanterns of my own and the same for my boy scout troop. As a scoutmaster, it was getting frustrating having to replace the glass globes not to mention the broken glass. These do not throw off as much light as the glass one but, unless you never go anywhere with your lanterns, and they never get bumped, these are still bright and never break. If they get smooched, just reshape them and light up. Safer and saves money. I have had some for over 10 years and I go camping with my troop at least 11 months of each year.

Was worried that this mesh would hinder the light..it does not! Lantern still gives off plenty of light.

A little big but worked ok

In the specifications it gives 5.5 x 5.5 x 6.25. This is absolutely incorrect. The description states they are 4.375 x 4.375. That too is absolutely incorrect. They are 4 5/8 tall by 4 1/2 diameter. I bought 3 of these for my Coleman 220 and 228 lanterns. They are too short and too small of a diameter to work. In Walmart's defense, Stansport does not place the dimensions anywhere on their box. It would have been a good value if it was the right size.
