Star Wars Smart R2-D2

I bought two of R2-D2 - 1 for each of my grandson's. One is 10 the other 3 1/2. So the Dad's have to participate as well. We had no problem with them at all. The robot scooted along my thinner rug in the family room with no problem and really flew on my hardwood floors. The both have hardwood floors at their homes. I emailed both the dads to find out how they are doing 3 weeks after I gave them the toys. They are doing just great. All the kids in the house love R2-D2. It has become a member of the family. No issues as all. They are constantly finding new things to program into him. I told the Dad's I will buy them Jedi robe's and laser sabers. May the force be with you too.

This toy is extremely interactive and attracts a wide range of age groups. Once it connects to your iPad or iPhone through Bluetooth you are in complete control. It will bring you loads of fun just be careful because it will fall off elevated surfaces and possible break. A sensor for a missing surface to prevent falling would be a great addition!

Purchasing this and picking up in the store was easy and convenient . Good quality for the price and R2 has a sassy and fun personality just like in the movies. He's fun to drive with the app or send out on his own by turning the knob on his head. A true find for a Star Wars fan. Thanks Hasbro and Walmart - awesome!

Ipurchased 2 of these r2d2 robots for son and son in law. They were Christmas presents but I allowed my daughter to give my son in law his when it arrived. My son will be spending Thanksgiving with them.I'm sure there will be dueling robots. The dogs are fascinated. I was impressed with Walmarts service and delivery. They were so professional and the packaging was in great condition. Thank you Walmart

This R2-D2 is a great little toy. I bought it for my wife because she hallways has liked R2-D2 and when she opened the present she was thrilled. It took a little while to get it going properly but after a little while we learned how to get it go both on its own and controlling it with our iPad. I like the different noises and "dances" it can perform. I am surprised that the batteries have lasted so long. I haven't yet programmed a mission but that looks interesting and not that hard. The only small warning is that we have a tile floor with some grout ridges which our R2-D2 gets stuck on. But it is easy to move him to get him going again. A very good fun item.

This is the closest most of us will ever come to living with the real R2-D2. He links up with your phone to do missions and follow orders. The app that controls him is simple and effective. My 6-year-old figured it out in minutes. R2 can also follow voice commands. His sounds and behavior are straight out of the movie. It's a must-have for any Star Wars fan. Walmart compensated me for my content, but my review is 100% my opinion.

This really does not go with the age range on the box. My grandson (age 21) and my husband love this thing. My husband called me because he wanted it for himself but I said we should get it for our grandson's birthday. They had that thing going all over the house yesterday. It does everything it says it does. Maybe the reason some people were disappointed in it, was they were really expecting a toy for kids. This is a top for grown-up men who love Star Wars. :) The whole family did think it was a cute robot, but the guys really enjoyed it. They had no problems with it and our grandson said he'd pay for one for my husband. It's a bit silly but it gives them a great deal of entertainment. We found no problems with this and plan to buy a second one.

No doubt this R2-D2 is a perfect size. Not too big and not too small. This item would be fantastic for kids, and for Star Wars fanatics. If the animations get a little old, just use it as room decor. The legs of the robot are rather light weight in comparison to its body. The body itself feels more robust. Was it worth the price? I'm not entirely sure. If you're buying primarily for the toy it is and its features, then I would say don't be disappointed if the animations get boring after a while. If you like the robot, regardless of its features, because you're just that big of a star wars fan or you want some house decor, I say go for it! If you are considering to purchase this item for a kid, I say go for it, because if they grow tired of its animations, they can still use their imaginations to think of fun games to play with it. Something to note: the app that works with the robot has a small amount of functions. The arrows that navigate your R2-D2 have some lag, the app itself has some lag. But if you're patient enough, I'm sure it could be quite fun or amaze the kids.

Smart R2-D2 worked but the app didn't want to download well on the phone. I bought this for my seven year old grandson and his mom's phone was not a high tech one and the app didn't work well. Plus she didn't want him running around with her cell phone. I think if he had his own remote he would have been more popular with my daughter and been perfect. I guess he is going back for that reason only.

I got this for my son and it was very disappointing. I get that you need the app to run it but the app or the toy itself does not function. The app connects but as far as the remote control, it does not work. It won't move when arrows are pressed. It just sort of jerks around and it won't respond to commands. I will be returning this for another one to see if it makes a difference but from what I have seen in reviews it's probably not going to make a difference. This is another overpriced new generation Star Wars toy that absolutely fails to meet expectations.
