I love this can opener. I have arthritis in my hands and with this can opener, I can open my cans so easy. The best part is, you can remove the lid without having to touch it. The only con with it is, when it opens the can, I do have some small lines of the paper wrapping and the can get in the food. Is easy to see it and remove it but, just be mindful about it. Other than that, I highly recommend this can opener.
I bought this can opener because of the reviewer who had problems with their hands. They said that it was the easiest can opener to use and that's no exaggeration. It actually is easy to use, cleaner than other can openers and quicker than an electric opener. There is virtually no resistance when you attach it to any size can and turn the knob. Excellent tool if you have problems with your hands.
This is a replacement for a similar one we had from 7 years ago. This design offers a much easier engagement of the jaws against the can top. Once you squeeze the handles shut, they lock on really well and the ergonomic knob is very easy to turn. One complete revolution of the can is all it takes to remove the lid and yes, there are no sharp edges. Great product. This is the one to own if you still do it the manual way.
As soon as it arrived I used the can opener. It works very well. I was surprised at how well it is made. The knob is large and easy to grab ahold of. I'm impressed with the design It works well.
I had one of these openers in Ontario and when I moved, to New Brunswick, I brought it with me. I had it for years and it just stopped working one day. When I found I could get one on-line from Walmart, I was over the moon!
Place the can opener flush with the lid. It removes the lid, holds the lid magnetically, then releases the lid into the trash. Never have to touch a sharp lid again. Love it.
I rate this can opener as excellent because of the ease of use. It attaches and works just as it was designed. I have used many can openers over the years, many costing much more; this is by far the best.
The can opener itself works great and is easy to use. But the description said NO edges are sharp. That is incorrect. The can is very sharp so you wouldn't have your kids opening cans with it. I bought two thinking they were the kind that didn't leave either the lid or the can sharp. Will probably take these back and see if there is another kind Walmart sells. I put that I would recommend this product, but with reservations.
The idea of a can opener cutting the side of a can & avoiding making sharp edges is great. Unfortunately this particular one doesn't compare to the one I had for about 10 years that finally gave out (it was a different brand). It does cut cans open, but: 1) This one cuts unevenly up/down, so the lid doesn't rest properly back on the can if you want to store some of its contents for the next meal. 2) The handles stay perpendicular to the can when locking & cutting, instead of parallel to it, which makes the whole procedure awkward & sometimes downright difficult. 3) Food juices somehow get on the mechanism every time, unlike with my previous different-brand opener. 4) There is a large slot underlying the cutting wheel that opens into a fairly large space within the metal mechanism, making it hard to clean & especially to dry effectively. I expect that in time the mechanism may either rust or salt up & corrode from washing in hard water. This opener works, but I think it's definitely not worth the price!
As long as you open regular type cans, like little green giant peas, it works nicely. Surprisingly easy to use & easy to turn. However, large 100+ ounce cans of sliced peaches & fruit cocktail,, its a fail - not going to open those for me. Walmarts own canned chicken cans.. kind of a like large tuna cans - not going to remove those tops at all. Slightly tapered cans of Alaska Pink Salmon, not opening those without going round and round and round several times and even then you will be wiggling off that top until metal fatigue snaps off. I'm not a total clutz or anything, matter of fact I'm quite handy - Keep a regular can opener is my advice, maybe pass on this. Waste of money unless all your cans are just soup can shaped.. or slightly not norm.
