This is the only Vesa stand I could find that combines extreme light weight (5.2 lbs), ability to lower the monitor nearly to the desktop, and a freestanding design. Since it's straight up and down, there's no space wasted by angular hinges. And that solid post makes it easy to pick up and move. It's designed to allow a high mount, so the post is tall—it sticks up way above my low-mounted monitor. This was kind of a bummer, until I figured out that it made the perfect perch for my headphones. Assembly is awkward, but if I can do it anyone can. The hardest part was pushing the big ball bearing into the right starting position. Assembly instructions are clear, except for a minor error on page 3, step 3, where what I assume is the cable clip is shown in front of the post; in step 4 it is to the rear, which makes more sense. If you have trouble turning the Allen wrench, use one of those angular plastic caps they provide for the iMac conversion; they'll give you the perfect grip.
I have been in the AV/IT Integration space for over 30 years. I found this unit easy to setup and use on my 27" monitor with built-in VESA mount adapter. The desktop monitor stand features a 15" tall support post, for an impressive range of height adjustments. An added feature of this stand, is that it supports landscape to portrait display rotation. This unit has an incredible amount of adjustment in display height, position and viewing angles to easily create an ergonomic work environment. The mounting thumb screws made the monitor installation very easy. This is a great sturdy metal stand for your large monitor. Built with solid components that fit together perfectly, it replaces the factory stand that comes with your monitor with ease. Setup was easy and took about 10 minutes. All the tools required were included (to install the new mount, make sure you have tools to remove the old stand beforehand) the instructions easy to follow. The base is solid flat metal and generously wide and deep, allowing for a very high positioning should you need it with full stability. Motion of the monitor is smooth and takes a bit of effort, but stays where you put it. Cable management is done with an ingenious clip that doubles as the height-stop and collects the cables together nicely. I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review
Very sturdy stand that works well with my iMac. I came with everything I needed to install including the Allen wrenches.
I purchased this item through Staples and it is designed for the older iMacs. The stand on the 2013/2014 iMac is not removable. The quality of the product does seem to be high but the documentation should say what years of the iMac it is compatible with. I wasted a fair bit of time and energy finding out it won't work the hard way.
