Sounds were coming from my laptop computer but not from the sound jack. This device solved my problem and now I can get wonderful sound to go through my movie protector. This device is great!

I don't really use my computer that much. I upgraded my computer to windows 7 and lost the sound on my computer. All I really use is the computer to back up my IPhone with ITunes or burn the pictures to disk. All I have to do is plug the USB with headphones and the sound works great again on the computer. It is easy to install too.

great product. the built in sound card on my Compaq Presario stopped working. This product was a quick solution to the problem. Just plug and play. The sound works great now. Thanks

Motherboard sound card damaged on older computer that still works perfectly. Couldn't source a PCI sound card. This was the perfectly simple solution. All sound functionality still controlled from the Windows interface. Best solution for solving a troublesome problem.

We need an external sound card to ship with our sound systems because many internal sound cards are too noisy. We have tested 27 external cards. Many are cheap unbranded Chinese knock-offs. This was by far the best sound card we found. It has a C-Media CM108 chip. It has excellent gain and low noise. It is expensive however.

I just plug it in and it worked without having to loading any drivers. My only complaint is the fact it's very wide and covers another USB port.

not sure why they went all the way to 7.1 with it. I would never use this to power a 7.1 surround sound system? definitely not something you want hanging out of your computer for a long length of time especially if you have a speaker and mic cable hooked to it. it really pulls on the connection. the buttons on the device are also odd. of course im going to control everthing on my computer. plus the buttons are so small and there is no indicator to see what your doing with the buttons you have to look at the computer for that so they're really kind useless and in the way. I guess its digiital sound. not sure. as far as quality I hear no difference compared to my realtek integrated card. basically this an emergency piece for when the integrated card on your laptop has gone bust. just be careful when u have it all plugged in.... its really a disaster waiting to happen.

The Startech Virtual 7.1 USB STEREO Audio Adapter External Sound Card arrived very quickly and well well-packed. It is advertised as STEREO, but unfortunately only the earphone output, not microphone input is actually stereo. That isn't apparent from the package but is clearly noted on the small card inside the sealed box. Fortunately, my local Walmart was good enough to refund my money. Now I need to find a USB Sound Card that really is stereo both for input and output.

Clicks constantly in headphone sound. If you use it on a laptop and have it plugged into a wall outlet via the charger it will get a buzz or static, it also gets this from external devices so it can basically be the only usb device in use wile using it and it clicks and pops making it super annoying. It really is a piece of junk.
