(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I much prefer the Japanese nabe inspired shape of this style of the Staub La Cocotte line-up. It's minimalist, has an aesthetically pleasing silhouette and feels just as high quality as one would come to expect from the Staub line of cast iron pots and ceramics. I've been using this for 3 months already and every time I break it out for a stew, braise or even some experimental baking, it does not disappoint.
My wife has been looking forward to having one of these for a long time. We both grew up around farm style cooking and love stews and roasts. This French Oven is beautiful and works great. She made some fabulous Hungarian Goulash in it last weekend. One pot that cleans up quickly. It is a really beautiful utensil.
Bought it a month ago and been using it for cooking soups, mussels, pasta sauce. It's amazing! It keeps the heat inside and seems like cooking is faster than usual. Of course, it's beautiful in my stove too.
This is such a beautiful piece of cookware that (like other reviewers) I keep it on the stove top when not in use - I just don't want to hide it away in a cupboard! I've used it twice already; for a scrumptious beef stew and sauerbraten. I can't wait to try more recipes! Clean up was so easy and the Dutch oven still looks like new -- even the underside that was in contact with the flame. Good quality, heavy cast iron construction with lovely dark, but rugged blue enamel. Although the outer box apparently got roughed up a bit in transit, the interior packaging was intact and designed to provide lots of extra protection. I'm so glad that I made this purchase.
This is my favorite Dutch oven. I have several Dutch ovens. But this one is absolutely perfect. It is not too big and it is not too small. You can cook a lot of food in this but it never feels super heavy. The curved sides, make stirring easier. This sautées, braises, and fries beautifully. The self-basting lid makes every meal more flavorful. It is easy to clean. Nothing sticks and there are never any stains that are a challenge to get rid of, unlike Le Creuset. Plus, the shade grenadine with the majolic paint is exquisitely, beautiful.
Bought the round white Staub last month and found the quality was perfect. I just love it!
This French Oven is one of my most used pots in the kitchen, almost daily. Cleans easily, higher ends prevent splashes when frying meats
This was a birthday gift for my daughter. She likes my Le Creuset. When i compared the two i liked that the lid has a tighter closure and the lid lets all the steam back into the pot.
I already have a cocotte but I read about french oven bread and so I decided to buy one and give it a shot. The shape of this made for a perfect sourdough loaf with incredibly crispy crust and soft interior. You definitely need pot holder to move or grab the knob but in my experience it didn't get crazy hot that if you accidentally touched it you would get burned which is a big plus for my clumsy self. White is a hard colour to keep clean but I use barkeeper's friend and it polishes it very nicely.
White is only available in the USA I got it shipped to the UK even though I can see France from the beach!! Terrible quality white overspray on the black coating inside I thought it was dust. It wasn't. The white enamel under the handles is patchy and the black metal of the pan shows through and looks cheap. I don't like leaving bad reviews but for the cost it's unacceptable. Waiting to here from customer services in USA and Europe. We live in a global market place why do colours have to be unavailable in Europe when they are made there. Just senseless!!! This has put me off making further purchases.
