This is a really beautiful cocotte . It's very big . It's so solid and heavy and the color is gorgeous. I love it and hope to be able to buy more . The other thing is I had it within 2 days of ordering, and the company kept me updated very well , much more so than any other company I've ever ordered from , I was really impressed by them .
I bought this wanting to do the waterless cooking method to retain more nutrients from the ingredients for my baby's solid food. And I love it! It is easy to cook with and everything tastes so much better!
I bought this for my daughter in law for Christmas and she absolutely loved it. She enjoys french cooking and this is perfect for her many recipes. It cooks evenly while keeping the food moist and flavorful. I highly recommend it.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) New addition to my my staub collection. So far performs as expected. Minor imperfections under the handle, little rough, but the interior is perfect. Quite expressive compared to most other enameled cookware, but the quality is better. Too costly to buy a full set so I bought slowly over the years. The braiser was my first and I used it for everything. Really like the black interior finish, personally find it better than others on the market that I have tried. I feel it browns food better, doesn't stain as easy, in fact I've had mine for 5 years and no permanent stains. Just follow the cleaning, storing, and heating guidelines.
This is exactly what I was hoping for. It's a great pot for cooking whole chicken, and for braises, stews, and soups. It's quite an upgrade from the uncoated cast iron Dutch oven I have been using. The black interior showcases the food inside, and is easy to clean. The white truffle color is elegant and understated. Lovely. One word of caution about this and Le Creuset pots is that I don't believe they should be used for no knead breads that require preheating the pot to 450F. Staub warns against that practice, and according to owner reviews, Le Creuset denies warranty claims due to damaging the finish with excessive heat. I have baked no knead bread in the Staub without the preheating of the pot, and the results are identical to what I get from a preheated non-enameled pot. The baking time needs to be adjusted. I am very pleased with this cocotte, and can recommend it without reservations.
So far I have loved cooking in this and it is easy to clean. I am a little disappointed in the color. The lid is a brighter white than the base and it looks a little off. For this reason, I am giving it 4 stars.
I've had my Cocotte for a little over two weeks now. Thus far I've baked bread and made two Indian curry dishes. It cleans up like a dream and the exterior is gorgeous. I did notice that there was a small white spot on the side where it seems as though the enamel wasn't completely colored. I also noticed that on the inside there were three small spots that weren't covered by the black enamel coating. There is no cracking or chipping to be found but for the price point, I do expect quality control to be a bit better.
This is the second white cocotte from Staub I've purchased that was missing the white coating on the handles. My friend also had the same issue. I returned. Makes me question the quality checks.
The inside finish is rough. My older cocotte has a very smooth finish. I prefer smooth. I probably would not have bought it if I knew that Staub had bought into the rough cast iron philosophy. Also has two small enamel dimples opposite each other on the lip of the pot where the enamel is absent or minimal. I hope that these dimples will not rust. From support(s) during enameling? I am not feeling the pride and joy that I expected. Few things retain the quality of yesteryear. I did not expect it with Staub.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Bought this product in store. It makes beautiful stew and sourdough bread. However, the interior enamel chipped within 2 years.
