"Keep it dry and Out of sight".doc sign is what I put on the lid. Use it for receiving truck deliveries [UPS, FedEx & USPS---> too large for my rural mail box]. No more having my packages wet [never did have a thieft problem]. I put the tote in the corner under the roof overhang, and can see if anything is inside when I pull in the driveway. Only have to replace the tote every few years because of the morning sun on the Clear Plastic, but that is not an issue.
I am satisfied with product but EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED they're discontinued! I need to finish a project and am so SAD I can't!!
I love that you can see what's inside them so there's no hassle of having to label them or look through each box. It's also nice how they stack so well on top of each other, it saves a lot of space! We have these in every room of our home and love the brand!
I use these to store my DSK (Disaster Survival Kit) supplies. They are see through so I can keep track of things I need to update. For example: Canned food supplies. Also, as more things are thought of, I can add or subtract from these storage bins easily. The tops are easy to remove, they stack nicely, and they are waterproof. They are easy to keep clean, and they fit neatly where they are stacked. They never dent or cave in, and stay put (they don't slide around or slip or fall over) no matter how many you stack on top of each other.
When my son and daughter were toddlers, we lived in a small apartment with tiny bedrooms. To maximize our space, I purchased dozens of the clear 56 quart Sterilite boxes and created their twin bed foundations from these boxes, placed side by side in two stacked layers, to support their mattresses. All their toys, treasures, clothes and school papers could be easily seen and pulled out, one box at a time as needed, by simply lifting their tall dust ruffles. My former toddlers are in college now. The Kindergarten papers and toys have been mostly replaced with textbooks and electronics in those same Sterilite boxes and transported to their new transitional dwellings as they prepare to start their own families. Sterilite has allegorically and literally been a foundation of their lives.
It's a great size and I like the clear sides. The only thing I didn't care for is the lid. I prefer a lid that latches.
I purchased several 56 Qt storage containers for which I primarily use to store clothing. I move quite a bit, so they are better than moving boxes and the various color lids help to easily identify which container I need. My disappointment is that the lids are not as sturdy as the containers themselves, they lose their shape and they crack easily. Not only that, but replacement lids are unavailable. After not being able to find them in the stores, I checked the website with no success. I don't like the fact that you have to buy a whole new container just to get a new lid. Surely there has to be a better solution to getting replacement lids or better yet making a better quality like Hefty or Rubbermaid. I like the storage containers, but I don't like that replacement lids are not available.
I find it unacceptable that it is impossible to purchase replacement lids for ones that have been lost , are cracked, have lost their shape, etc. I have about 8 different clear storage containers all with different capacities ranging from 32 QT up to (I think) 96 QT and all the sizes in between, and bought over the past 10 years or so they do have slightly different designs.... HOWEVER all take the same lid. Yet this company refuses to make replacement lids available hoping their consumers will opt to just purchase brand new containers with lids. It must not be too difficult to make replacement lids available since Rubbermaid seems to be able to do it, Which is where my money as well as the budget for the 700+ that the resort that I manage purchases annually will be spent in the future.
I have been buying this size for years. I use it to store seasonal clothing. The older versions of this type of storage box are fantastic and still going strong. The lids of newer version can not handle another box if stacked on top. The lid will sink with the weight of the upper box and you will not have a nice seal.
The lids on these get very brittle and crack into many pieces. The company does not make replacement lids. Although I like that they are clear, I will never buy another.
