Really waterproof!!! My basement flooded and I lost a lot of items... totally destroyed ... that were in other totes. I had several of these totes that were floating on top of all the water. 2 were upside down but nothing was wet or damp in any of these totes. as long as the blue seal is in place you are protected. I recommend that you make sure the clip closure is in the locked position even if empty. The clip can be broken off if now.
I bought this box to store big packages of food supplies like flour, sugar and oats, because it is labeled as BPA-free and Phtalates-free as well as moisture, dirt and pest safe - so no chance for roaches or other bugs. The walls and lid of the box are quite thick and stable. The lid has a rubber sealing leaving no gaps when it is closed - so yes, it is pest-safe and probably even fully waterproof. BUT even though the website says BPA-free and Phtalates-free this box stinks extremely terrible, literally breathtaking in the worst way... - you can't ignore it. It must be leaking big amounts of chemical components probably like aromatic hydrocarbons or whatever. So we put it one sunny afternoon outside in the backyard hoping to get rid of the smell. First the smell seemed to be gone and we put the food packages inside for a couple of days. But when I opened it again, the smell was back again too. Now I worry our food which was packed only in paper packages maybe got polluted by this. So the box is back under the sun, me still hoping to make it useable. Conclusion: Beware what you want to store inside this. Food packed in paper or clothes you want to wear without washing again - NO. Tools or other stuff like that - YES, go for it.
These types of containers are great. Just writing this review as an FYI. The container that was at the bottom of the box arrived shattered. Because this is a multipack - Walmart won't issue any type of partial refund for the broken item and force you to return them all, which is a hassle and the box they arrived in is quite large. If the price is the same, next time I would purchase the same item individually rather than the multipack.
I've bought plenty of Sterilite containers over the years, so I expected the usual reliability. Instead, this 4‑pack arrived with multiple bins missing latches right out of the box. Without the latches, the gasket lid doesn't seal at all, which defeats the entire purpose of a “weather‑resistant” storage bin. The plastic itself seems fine, but it doesn't matter when the containers can't close properly. These should never have passed quality control. Returning the whole set because they're unusable as delivered. Very disappointing for a brand I normally trust.
Good sturdy tote HOWEVER it comes with the latches missing to close it properly. One tote had the latches while the second tote was missing ALL of the latches. Other reviews stated this same thing. I was hoping the totes I ordered would be the exception but that was not the case. Otherwise they seem like they would hold up nice and I was able to store a very large, thick king size comforter in the tote. Roomier than they look.
The bins have the wrong lids. Can’t use them. They aren’t even the right type! The bins are Sterilite, but the lids are Hefty! And not even the right color. They are supposed to be clear like the larger one in the picture. No excuse for this kind of mistake. Very disgusted.
Lid arrived defective does not close, latches defective missing one pins that snap into box. returning Hopefully will receive a better one.It just sucks making the trip to Fed ex. i buy online because dont have reliable transportation. other than that, if box has no defects it is a good box with gasket, keeps moisture out and sturdy. i have another one that's performed well.
These would be great but 3 out of the 4 I got was either missing handles or broken at the base. Now I have to go through the hassle of returning them. Definitely inspect before purchasing. Don’t but online like I did. Total disaster.
I received 3 of the 4 I had ordered. I opened the box and the top one had 3 of the sealing flaps off and the container has a break where it looks like one of the flip handles was to hard to get attached.I just want an exchange it for a new on and don't know how to do it plus I am handy-capped and can't walk into the store to do so.Please help me.
Arrived broken. Returned for replacement. Replacement was shipped and lost by FedEx whose own tracking showed it was enroute after leaving one of their depots. Then, NOTHING. After 2 weeks, WalMart said they'd send a replacement and send me confirmation via email. NO such email came. I called back. Was told the replacement order was not entered and promised again the order would be made and I'd get a confirmation via email. Again, NO confirmation ever came. Not one word from WalMart about the lost package.
