We installed all new S/S appliances during a kitchen remodel 4 years ago…including a 36” Kitchen Aid 5-Burner gas range. Unfortunately, the Steel surfaces and finishes that Kitchen Aid is using now is no where near the quality of 10-15 years ago. As a result the burners, after 6 months of regular use, have discolored…and the steel cooktop surface is stained, pitted, and discolored…even though we haven't cooked anything unusual, have always followed the care, and cleaning instructions, etc. The quality is just crap now. Shame!! So, our new kitchen looks amazing and the cooktop looks like an eyesore. Kitchen Aid just said the staining is normal wear….such a lie. They should stand behind their reputation and warranty. A new surface is 75% of the cost of a new cooktop…and I cannot get the stains out…no matter what methods, polishes, etc. I have tried. So, I decided to cover them. These are lightweight, cost effective, fit perfectly, are very easy to remove, clean, wipe dry, and reinstall. I believe they can go in the dishwasher but I haven't had to do that yet. Just soap and a sponge…they look new. It was a great solution to a pretty $$$$ problem. The cooktop looks much better now. I highly recommend these covers. Good luck. RS
